I speak a little Korean (my mother is Korean), could I be trained as a translator? Would I be able to get to have a choice in what language I get assigned to?

The military has many linguist MOS's all listed under the same number designation not sure which one, my understanding when i talked to a recruiter about that possibility years ago was that there is a set of languages at a giving time that the army recruits for an usually you are able to choose from them if there is one of those languages that you wish to learn. However the army once you sign your contract unless you specify what language your to be trained in, in writing on your enlistment contract will choose for you what language you will be trained in. My guess at this time most if not all of the languages that are being offered/trained are Arabic dialects for use in the service in Iraq/Afghanistan. You never know we have many bases in Korea and there may be a need for translators there. Probably not going to get a language like Spanish though as the army is not even paying the language qualifying pay bonus for speaking Spanish anymore as it is too common a language.

every Branch has linguists. You have to score high enough on the DLAB ( a separate test from the ASVAB)before you can request that job. NO, you will not have a choice in which language you get, and you must be able to get a Clearance.

There are. My recruiters at MEPS were trying to get me to take a job like that, but I wanted a combat specialty and picked ARTILLERY!!!!!!! instead because I wanted to do my part when the bullets fly and the action starts!

Army will still send you to school to perfect your language and that is your MOS.
