Yes that is because they where probably that animal in a recent incarnation. Animals eat sleep mate and defend as do humans but the only difference is the ability to question our existence and raise our consciousness and realize our true identity beyond the bodily conception of life. They can not. They are just living out their past karma until they again come to the human platform. If a human misuses their human form of life and does not make any spiritual advancement they are sure to go back to animal species or lower (plants, bugs etc) The proof of the soul is the life within. Anything living has a soul. The body is just the outer covering. IT is evolution of the soul not the bodies as Darwin speculated on.

Yes, but that doesn't mean someone was an animal in previous life. In fact, we all came from an animal form of life. However, we never go back, because reincarnation, as Blue Eyes so wisely said, is progress and not regress. An animal body could never hold a human spirit again, it would be spiritually impossible, due to the knowledge, skills and wisdom we gain as a human being. The other way around is possible, but I doubt we have people in our generation who came directly from a animal, there is a long process in between.

(1) Reincarnation does not mean a human being comes back as a dog or a horse. The dynamic of reincarnation is progressing or gaining wisdom through experience.
(2) People are animals.

Yeah, years ago I knew a guy in Southern California. His first wife looked like a rat. His second wife looked like a pig. His third and final wife before he died, looked like a horse. If he lived his new girlfriend looked like all three.

Theosophy states other animals eventually reincarnate in human form so someone that sees to the soul might view them as you mention.
I myself suspect it's the other way around ; )

i feel they do look like animals but this doesn't necessarily mean there is a chance they come back like that. but hey you never know goat look alike man is born a goat news paper headlines would be awesome
