I have no fear that an illegal is going to take my job. Perhaps another immigrant as I am an immigrant myself, but not an illegal one. I do administrative work for a university. I also think my children will have jobs when they are in high school and with an advantage as they are being brought up bilingual in English and Spanish. Already thinking of introducing Chinese. I do hope they choose to go to college and complete their education but if not they could work in the family business
For those who complain that some jobs require that you speak Spanish: if you don't have the skill your employer requires you can either go and acquire such skill or find another job. It's not a matter of immigration, it's a matter of education.

I do. It has already happened to me. The construction company I was working for decided they would rather pay8.00$ per our to the illegals as opposed to the 13.00$ they were already paying us. It happened gradually(over about 10 months) but almost all of the original laborers are gone. The illegals don't get any benefirs either although they've been promised a raise.
I now work day labor doing the work I keep hearing on the news that Americans won't do. I make 7.50$ per hour washing dishes. I live in Chicago so the Construction season is slow now due to the coming change in weather. Hopfully I'll be back in construction in the spring.
All I want to say to the ilegals is GO THE F*** BACK HOME so we can have our jobs back.

I work in a factory that produces plastic bottles. They use a temp service that hired illegals. These people were paid less than a regular employee of the company. They were raided and had 68 illegals that were deported. Fined and warned that to get caught with illegals again would result in closing the business. Also have family and friends who work in the construction business where the hiring of illegals is rampant so the wages are being undercut.

Already happening, especially with big companies, trades, small businesses who cannot compete with those hiring illegals. Those who are professional white collar workers don't really need to fear, except for doctors, who have to take so many who can barely pay, that their income has gone down considerably. Actually, law firms have an overload of case work, due to the ability of illegals to sue.
I'm in radio, so my job is not directly at stake, although I do have to deal with Univision. Some Spanish radio stations get sponsers for their host's shows, and the sponser pays the producer, who in turn pays the host under the table, so there are illegals at some of those small stations. The producer doesn't care, as long as he/she is paid. So, those radio shows are growing in number. They are also starting to produce shows in English, gaining a larger audience.

I'm not worried about my job, but both my sons work in blue collar industries and their jobs could be one of those taken by an illegal. Some of you might say, "they should get more of an education", but that's not always a viable option and sometimes Americans choose not to further their educations. That doesn't mean they should have to live like they're in a third world country because people FROM a third world country want to break our laws to come here.
My sons are decent, hard-working, law-abiding, patriotic AMERICAN citizens who love their country, and they shouldn't HAVE to compete with people who don't belong here for their jobs. They shouldn't have to accept such low wages in order to KEEP their jobs that it puts THEM in a third world lifestyle.

Those who have to fear this are in the working poor class. You aren't going to find them in college and probably won't find them online much as they probably can't afford a computer and internet access. Their kids are the ones waiting in line at the library to use a computer.
And no, I never feared for my job. I've been a teacher, worked for the State Department and was a lobbyist for a while. Now, I own an organic farm and do volunteer work.

I work as an apartment building manager and an accounting secretary and have no fear because my companies don't hire illegals..
What I do fear is that when my son is 16 and ready to get his first job (the ones he would be qualified for in high school), will be taken by an illegal..IE: fast food chains and yard work..

Lost one....one of those jobs Americans won't supposidly do because they sub-contracted our jobs out not for cheaper labor but to get out of offering benefits etc. We weren't even given a choice to keep our jobs and forgo the benefits. This wasn't my so called profession.....but a job I needed.
Now I'm having trouble finding work for 1 reason. Everything around here is "must speak Spanish"....I am bi-lingual....just don't speak Spanish. They wouldn't have the education I have so I wouldn't be worried about loosing a job to them because they might be better.....I'm being kept from jobs because I don't speak Spanish that I am qualified to do. It has gone so far as laundry folders "must speak Spanish". Flower delivery person.."must speak Spanish", not an order taker...just delivery. Factory jobs, "must speak Spanish"..store clerk,"must speak Spanish"......grave stone sales person.."must speak Spanish"......funny thing is....they never have to speak English to get the job. This is for everything from nurses to teachers to day care workers to house cleaners to legal secretaries on down the line. In a state where English is the Official language. They are actually holding jobs for just hispanics.......who must speak Spanish....but no requirement to speak English.
This is keeping qualified citizens and other legal immigrants out of jobs they are qualified to do.....who speak English and most are bilingual so it's not that they don't know another language....they just don't speak Spanish.

Not me. Accountant and Investment Advisor Representative.
I also greet at my church on the fourth Sunday of every month, but I am not paid to do so. An illegal could have the job if they want it badly enough, but there is no pay. . .
