pioneer stereo interference on my 96 astro van?

Question

Everytime the car is runnin on the battery the stereo sounds great but as soon as i turn on the car there is a crackling through the speakers or a low static. How can i fix this and what iss the problem

the alternator is causing the noise (or a bad ground). check the ground connections and install a noise filter on the 12v power wire to the stereo

if you have a custom system with amps the battery alone might not be able to power it, if this is the case get a secondary battery that is also hoked up to your alternator, hope this helpes
