I'm 16 years old, last time I went to church was about 8 years ago when I attended Catholic private school. But all of that changed and I no longer believed in God anymore.

Now, I want to have that relationship again with him. I was thinking about joining a youth group, I want a sense of belonging also, sports at school isn't my thing and I'm really kind of shy. It seems to fit.

But what do we do there exactly, is it my kind of scene? Expensive?

Try it and find out. Only you can tell if it is what you are looking for.

Most youth groups that I know about are free unless there is a trip and then they have fund raisers.

I don't know of any church youth group which charges a fee for 16 year olds to attend, unless its a fee for a meal or a weekend retreat or something like that.

And most Bible believing churches will waive even those fees if there is a financial need.

The links below will help you learn about God and establish a relationship with him.

If you send me an E-mail with your city, state and zipcode or city, state, region and country if you live outside of the USA, I'll help you find a good local Bible believing church close to where you live.

I won't need your name, address or phone number.

The 2nd link below is a link to lots of other good links which will help you learn more about God and the Bible.

It really depends on the group. The youth group I was a part of as a teen was meant to teach how to live better Christian lives, was supposed to encourage fellowship among the members, etc. In practice the group was even more full of cliques than public school, and most people were more interested in having a good time (or making out with their significant other on retreats) than in learning about Christianity. But I certainly wouldn't suggest that my experience was the norm. I suggest trying it out and seeing whether you like it. I doubt there's much expense other than covering the costs of particular events.

There are Catholic youth groups that really don't have much to do with the schools---they really do alot of fun things too---check with your priest---he'll get you into one---Catholic ones are free unless there is an actual charge for something they are going to do---like rollerskating or something like that

I really don't know much about Catholic youth groups. Most Protestant youth groups I know of are free. Contact a priest in you local parish. He should have the information you need.

Welcome back to the family.
