Ten by seven is not particularly large for a wall hanging photo. In fact, it is rather small, if it is the only image in a large section of wall. Eleven by fourteen, or sixteen by twenty would be more suitible.

8x10 is "normal," but some places sell off sizes so you will have to buy the frame from them, too. A typical "large" photo will be more like 11x14 with a matte to 16x20 in a 16x20 frame. This is big enough to view from 8 or 10 feet away while an 8x10 would require you to get closer than maybe 6 feet to appreciate the photo. An 11x14 in a 16x20 frame will NOT dominate a room, either. Unless you are hanging a portrait in the center of the main wall, don't go much bigger than that.

Which software programs do you have? I can give you specific directions for doing this in some programs...but I'll need to know which ones. Add more details, and I'll check back. UPDATE: Crud. I guess that I can't help you, since I use totally different imaging programs. I know that in Hewlett Packard photo software (which is of no use to you whatsoever), there is a way to resize based on pixels. And I also have Paint Shop Pro, which has resizing options for photos (again, useless to you). I'm sorry that I led you to believe I could be of use and then turned out to be no help at all. I hope that somebody else here has given you an idea that will work. One thing I can recommend, if you haven't already thought of it--but it's for future photos, not the ones you have today: You can reset the settings on your camera so your images aren't so gigantic.

That is an odd size normally it would be considered a 8x10, but you can go larger --11x 14 or 16x20 or 20x24 these are your larger sizes but 11x14 is usally a good size for portraits.
If you go to your local wal mart you might be able to ask the photo lab there if they have samples of different sizes, they should have them along with the frames so you can get an idea of what it might look like in a frame.

Photographic paper is 8" wide. An 8"x12" (20x30cm) is roughly A4 (standard size of a sheet of paper). The traditional print size for holiday snaps etc is 6"x4" (roughly 10x15cm), a slightly larger 7"x5" is product of the VGA format of digital cameras. You are being offered something twice as big, but 10"x7" is unusual and less than A4. I would recommend anybody to pay the photographer for the jpeg. You can get top quality poster and canvas prints online from firms like FotoInsight, printing-1.co.uk and others.

Depends on the size of the room, the wall, the frame/matte.
Most standard size rooms can do a 11x14 and not be too big or too small.

Here is an idea - get a newspaper and cut out rectangles with the sizes you have been offered, then hold them on the wall to see which looks best in your living room.
