I go to a Catholic Christian school and we are now learning about the nature of God. We've learned that the future does not exist. Only the past and the present. The future has not occured and is therefore non-existant. Because God is and always is never was or will be, He only knows everything at once that is. After an hour of argument from many students, I finally asked if God knows what will happen in the future. But because of the fact that the future is non-existant, my teacher answered no. God is omnipotent, all knowing. Though the future does may not exist to us, how does God not know? I find it ridiculous. The teacher also said that God knows all that we know at the time including the information of the past. If God only knows what ALL of us know, then, in theory, if we were to combine the knowledge of all human creation together, wouldn't we know as much as God? Now please explain this to me only if you are familiar with this concept. No joke answers and give your standpoint.

Please also explain prophecy and does the Trinity know when Jesus will return?
Another point that my teacher made was that the future is nothing but now when it occurs. There is no tomorrow or next week. It will be now or today when it happens.

Teacher also said that God doesn't even know when we will die until it has happened? I believe that this is foolish. In a way if this is true, God forgive me, God seems nearly useless.
If you have studied the book of Daniel, how was God able to provide Daniel with prophecies concerning the different natinos that would come to power such as the romans, the greeks, etc.? Daniel had a vision of a statue if you know what I mean.

OKAY YOU GUYS THANKS FOR YOUR ANSWERS SO FAR BUT MAY I REMIND YOU THAT:
1) MY TEACHER IS FOLLOWING THE CATHOLIC THEOLOGIANS TEACHING. he's doing his job and teaching what he beliefs.
2) The trinity is the father, the son, and the holy spirit. They are all one just different forms. I believed this even without catholicisms in my life.
3) This is what all true Catholics SHOULD believe in indeed they consider themselves to be Catholic. I can't report to anyone.
4) I am not Catholic and do not believe in the part about God not knowing about the future. I think thats crap, Bovine fecal matter.

Time is part of the 3 dimensional universe, God exists beyond that, so of course he does know everything that has happened, everything that is happening now and everything that will happen.
You need a physical mind in order to move through time and space, God is not embodied, and does not have to follow time moment to moment like we do. He sees all and know all including the future or all possible futures if there is more than one.
Besides how can the Bible make predictions if the future is unknowable by God?

First of all, everything you have just said contradicts the bible, if they are following it. God is omniscient, omnipotent, and all knowing. He knew who you were before you were born. Therefore, he knows the future. How then do you explain the Revelation chapter in the bible? God knows what you are thinking now, what you will think, and how you will think. Yes, He knows many things. Now you may ask, how come he doesn't prevent most of it? Well, we're a part of a Master Plan. These things HAVE to happen, and they will happen. The rest is just a mystery. We're not meant to know everything. We're only humans. You cannot compare an all powerful being with something that was made from dust. That's where faith comes in. Just believe in Him, and believe that He is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. He is all three divided into three parts. I conclude by saying HE IS EVERYTHING, and is EVERYWHERE.

God knows all, past, present and future. The Old Testament spoke of Christ before He came (Read Isaiah 53). Roughly one third of the Bible is prophecy and much of that has already come to pass. This is another false teaching of the Catholic church. They claim to know more about the mind of God than they really do and add to His word when no addition is needed (tradition over the Bible).
You are an extremely bright girl and are definitely full of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is what allows us to discern truth from lies and to understand the Holy Scriptures. You have a firm grasp on them and seem to understand clearly what God has taught you. Go with what God tells you, not what man tells you.

1 Corinthians 1:25 Â Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
You are right, your teacher is NOT teaching the truth. Does GOD give prophets the ability to predict the future? There are many examples in the Bible where GOD has given several prophets knowledge of the future. Read Daniel 2.
Ask your teacher to read it also.
GOD bless

If God does not know the future, then how did the prophets of the Old testament know what was going to hapen 100's of years before the events actually happened? the Virgin birth, birth of John the Baptist, death of Jesus,... was all foreold in the Old Tesatment.
Take your teacher the King James Bible and let them read the book of Revelations. It foretellls all the events that will happen in the future, including the rapture, 1000 year reign, and the final battle of God and Satan.

Of course God knows the future. One example the entire law of sacrifice in the old testament. It all pointed to the great and last sacrfice of Christ giving up his life for us. He is the perfect firstborn lamb without spot or blemish just like the old testament sacrfices. God knew and God knows. God knows more than we know. He is omniscient, we are not. Even all the human knowledge together would probably not even be a small part of what God knows.

Ask your teacher this.
Why does the Catholic Church claim that the pagan myths which match Bible stories, (even the birth of a demi-god--Jesus) were created in advance by Satan to undermine peoples faith in Jesus when he came?
Is the Catholic Church, (or at least your teacher) trying to claim that Satan can do something God can't?
That teacher needs to be reported, if nothing is done you are in the wrong school if not even the wrong church/religion.

Aesity means self-existence. Aesity explains the metaphysical nature of God as a purely self-existent being that exists in complete actuality. God is not a being that is created by another god; neither does God create himself into existence. Rather, God has always existed as an unchanging, completely actualized being.
God has his Being of himself and to himself such that he is Absolute being and the definition of existence.
Since God’s essence is his nature and God’s existence is the same as his essence it follows that God is existence.

Well the Catholics don't like the Bible much, and the Bible is the Word of God. God says he knows all things past, present, AND future, and every prophecy he ever gave has come true to date. In fact one of the best ways to test the Bible to see if it is the Word of God is the prophecy it contains. But like I said, the Catholics don't like the Bible much.

I would inform your school administator and Also if you are in a high school or Grade school inform your parents or talk to your priest. God is All knowing and he does know our future. If God didnt know the future how did Jesus know he was going to die on the cross before it happened.
