canidae is very good...as for this "TOY" schnauzer...there is NO such thing.

please read these links before you buy a "toy" dog (AKC recognizes 3 types of schnauzer...giant, standard, and miniature..THATS IT!)

first of all, there is no such breed as a "toy" schnauzer. there are three kinds of recognized schnauzers: the giant schnauzer, the standard schnauzer, and the miniature schnauzer. any breeder advertising "toy schnauzer" is only doing so to make a buck. have you checked out the breeder? generally, when they keep breeding to make them smaller, the dogs are sickly, so be prepared. sure it is cute, all puppies are. but you should really do your homework on miniature schnauzers. basically, what you are getting is probably a runt and the breeder is advertising it as a toy. go to the american kennel club website and look up the breed. you will see what i mean. as for food, canidae all life stages is what i feed my mini. be wary of the breeder advertising it as a toy.

First of all, there is no such thing as a toy schnauzer - there are 3 sizes of schnauzer - miniature, standard and giant. I agree- try to get your deposit back. A good breeder will not sell you something that doesn't exist.
When looking for food, there are plenty of good brands. Go to a quality pet store, not the grocery store - most of those name brands are full of fillers like wheat, corn, meat by-products, etc.

Look for a food with meat as the first ingredient, and not necessarily beef. Look for lots of fruits and vegetables - you want quality, not quantity. Remember, crap in, crap out. I happen to feed my dog Wellness (though we decided to try Orijen), and Merrick's wet. Good luck!

Sorry to inform you but there is no such thing as a toy schnauzer they only conme in miniture and standard.
If it's sold as a toy itls probably a runt and may have several health issues so a very good qulity would be best.
Good Luck

Why not try a food called Canidae all life stages/ It's holistic dog food and it comes in small kibbles and very affordable. with a dog your size a 5 pound bag for 8 dollars will last you a month or two. visit www.canidae.com
http://www.canidae.com/dogs/all_life_stages/dry.html

and too green, firstly pedigree is low quality, secondly, the kibbles are too large for small dog.

Also "toy" dogs are actually a cute name for a runt. Runts have a lot of health problems. I reccomend putting your deposite in fo a regular.

"toy" schnauzers do not exist. Please check the health of this runt before bringing it home.

I feed Canidae all life stages to all 6.....yes 6 of my dogs. Okay only 3 are mine and 3 are pups (we rescued a pregnant chi) and the pups are now on it as well....they love it.

I don't even think you need to buy food for a toy schnauzer. They aren't real you know.

Can you get the deposit back? Good breeders wouldn't sell you a "toy" schnauzer, since it is just a marketing term used to sell undersized dogs to unsuspecting buyers.

When you find a GOOD breeder and get a dog from them, they will advise you as to the best diet for your pup.

I agree with the first answer. Canidae is a GREAT food for all stages and all dog sizes and shapes. We have had both our Lab and Pug on it from the time they were pups and they both are doing very well.

High protein (over 20%) puppy food. I add a egg a day (cooked) and a couple table spoons of cottage cheese.
