If you have time for them, no small children around and patience, Yorkie's.

ALL dogs with hair shed. If you want a non-shedding dog, it must be hairless.
There are certain breeds that shed less than others. The average dog has two layers of fur, an outer coarser one, and an inner fluff. Other dogs have only one layer, the coarser hair. Both layers shed equally, but on a double coated dog, twice as much.
Here's a good list of single-coated dogs

well every dog sheds to some degree. i had a boxer and he shed like there was no 2morrow. also depends on how much your going to excercise them. if your goin to excercise go for a staffy. but these dogs do need a walk a day and a run on the week ends. you could probably go for pug they are good and small enough that you dont really have to walk them. but you also need to mention what temprament you want like an enegetic dog that follows you everywhere like a boxer or a laided back dog st bernard?

I have one.....a MALTESE! Doesn't shed at all, but does require much grooming! Loves all people, kids, and other dogs. Even gets along great with our cat. This dog has the absolute best temperament of any one I've ever owned.

Poodle (don't laugh!). They are intelligent, trainable, and the curly hair doesn't shed off - it comes off with brushing. And they housebreak much more quickly than a Bichon. Chihuahuas are good small dogs too, but they shed like any other dog (I have 2 Chi's and wouldn't trade them for the world, but would be happy if they gave up shedding for me!).

Maltese don't shed, and are hypo allergenic for those with allergies. Also have a great personality!
Oh and poodles don't shed either.
I used to breed Maltese, had them in the house. 5 of them, not counting the puppies, and you'd have found more of my hair than theirs!

The one I "HIGHLY" recommend to those who ask, a shihtzu! They are loyal & smart beyond belief and even cuter than that. They do NOT shed NOR do they produce doggy dander to irratate allergies. I have several - and I would not take the world and all it holds for even one of them.
They are LOVABLES that can be very "human" in their reaction(s) to what they like and dislike as well. You will never find a more loyal companion.

Shih Tzus. They don't shed, are quiet, intelligent, have a good temperament, and have an enormous amount of personality. They are great apartment dogs.

The above website is great - you put in the details of your household and situation eg how much you want to spend on feeding time for grooming/exercise and it will give you some ideas of breeds
