I'll take a stab at it. My definition of a compound is a mixture of things. AOL Dictionary's definition of compound is:
"something formed by a union of elements or parts ; especially : a distinct substance formed by chemical union of two or more ingredients in definite proportion by weight"

Items 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 all contain more than one item/ingredient/element. The strawberries (Item 2) contains, I guess you could say 3 elements - pulp, water, and seeds. The milk (item 3) contains a number of elements including water, casein, fats, etc. The water (Item 4), depending on how pure it is, contains the standard H2O (two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen). If it's well water, it also contains minerals, if tap water, chlorine, fluoride, etc. Item 11 (maple syrup) contains the sap from the specific maple tree. I'm not sure what, other than tree liquids, would be in the sap. For the rest of the items, you would need to read the ingredients box for the "elements" that are found in them. Applesauce generally has sugar and spices added.

Anyone else want to take a swing at this?
