It really depends on the food. Dogs need a healthy balanced diet, just like us. Sometimes feeding human food is healthier than dog food. Dog foods contain a lot of fillers that have no nutritional value to the dos at all. Believe it or not, there once was a time before dog food was sold in bags. Dogs lived on table scraps for centuries. So as long as he isin't over weight and is getting a balanced diet it's probably fine.

My dog exclusively eats "human" food. He hasnt had kibble except as a treat for a few months now. He's healthier than he was before and healthier and almost any dog Ive ever seen.
Yes, there are some human foods that can hurt him, but with a bit of research you know to avoid those and to use some of them sparingly.
There are also things other animals consider food that you couldnt eat without sickness or death-it does not mean their entire diet is bad for you, just one or two things.
Fast food is not good for dogs. Its too high in salt and since you dont know the full ingredients it can be dangerous. Onions are a regular ingredient in fast food, they destroy red blood cells which can lead to anemia in all creatures, but dogs are especially prone to this.

Richard T's list up there is pretty good. It over estimates the danger of many things, but that is preferable to people thinking theyre safe and being wrong.

it would depends on what kind of food it is. Chocolate can cause a small dog to have a cardiac arrest. I had 2 small chihuahuas raised on human foods (they constantly beg and won't eat their dog foods unless they starve), and both lived beyond 17 years. We usually eat healthy fresh whole foods, fruits, and veggies sometimes so that might have helped the dogs. One lived to 20 year and finally died from a brain tumor (she only suffered a week or so before dying). The other lived for 18 year and passed away in her sleep. Both had a full high quality life.
I included a website on one of the oldest dog (Outback mongrel could be one of the oldest dog) that live off of table scraps , and outdoor emu bird.

As long as they avoid the obvious problem foods like onions and provide a good, balanced diet of meats and vegetables their dog can thrive on fresh foods.
Fast food isn't good for humans either but once in awhile, for healthy humans and dogs it is just a treat.
Here is a list of foods that can cause problems for dogs. Some for reasons that are known and other for unknown reasons. This is a list that can be tacked to the fridge as a reminder.

Dogs mostly can eat the same kinds of food that people can. Onions and chocolate are toxic to them, however. Small amounts don't usually hurt.
The trick is, giving the dog a balanced diet. But then, this is a trick with humans too.

Won't kill him but not the best nutritional plan. Dogs are omnivores, so they can eat almost anything. The worst it might do is cause GI upset (vomiting and diarrhea). Dog food has to be formulated to give all the nutrients a dog needs by law.

Grapes can kill a dog (as little as three grapes) and large amounts of chocolate or other caffeinated foods can give a dog a heart attack.
Greasy food is bad and will give dogs the runs. The best bet is to check online or in the library for what foods are harmful to dogs. Dog food tends to be mostly grain and dogs are actually carnivores.
For a general Guideline (not specific foods) check my source below.

it depends on what type of food is given, like chocolate
my rule is moderation
i do not give my dog junk food, basically the stuff that is bad for me
my dog gets a bit of fruit and veggies and rice occasionally
or i'll let him like my plate once in a while
this is why they make dog food, because thats what dogs should be eating

well depend what kind of foods. but itsn ot good ideas to feed dogs with people foods cause makes the dog have heart worms and even heart diseases such as cancer, over weight, even make the dogs get very illness, and greases and fast foods harm their healths . plus those foods doesnt make them stay longer life, gave them strong bones . dog foods are made with different kind of healthy ingredients . no sugar added their foods . plus suagr bad for dogs healths . it can even killed them . but you can gave little healthy foods such a peas, vegetables, fruits are healthy for pets. but not all the time. because it will gave the dog have poops problems.
