Bear has constantly been getting up and started limping, but after walking on it for a few minutes, he's back to normal. Lately, he won't respond to his name, and is is too much pain to lay down. My dad refuses to take him to the vet cus suposedly "he's just fine". Does he have a serious problem that for sure needs to be taken care of by a professional?

Your dog is obviously in too much pain to get comfortable.
I suggest a vet visit to rule out lyme disease and to figure out if its a soft tissue injury.
SynoviG3 is a great supplement that relieves pain while helping out the joints and cartilage.
You do not need a prescription for it but it is about 50 dollars for a large tub of it.
I wouldn't wait on seeing a vet if it is lyme disease serious kidney damage could be occuring.
There are other tick borne illness that cause limping and joint pain such as Ehrlicia,Rocky mountain spotted fever and Anaplasmosis.
A 50 dolllar test could rule out tick borne infection.
See your vet
