That's difficult because you're not his superior. Do you have a fixed time for lunch? If this isn't the case, then you can politely but firmly tell him that X work NEEDS to be turned in by X time and that he can go out and have lunch after you've finished it, but that you need him to stay and help you until it's finished. Then he can do as he pleases. If this is a recurring problem you might want to talk it with your supervisor because it's not fair that you do all the job while this guy has his lunch time. He has the right to it, but not to make YOU work for him.

In case the lunch time is fixed and people at your office know this I think they shouldn't be setting deadlines at 1 PM........ everyone should be entitled to have their lunch peacefully, that's why you all have the right to take this break........ you could probably bring this up with your superior as well?? Good luck....

just don't do his half next time and tell your boss that it didn't get done cuz he left, if you're above him tell him that he can go get his lunch after 1pm on the days when you have something like that due. But outside of curdsey, it is the law that he gets a lunch break, and he has no legal obligation to stay.

you will eventually have to let him know . people like that only think of themselves, so your going to have to tell him (even the it may not change anything ) or take it to the next level.
