I just got done with one of the worst experiences of my life. The boney projections of the teeth were curved, thus lots of drilling and cracking involved.

Anyhoo... I'm worried the guy didn't prescribe antibiotics... only steroids and vicadin.

Should I go back and demand antibiotics? If you look at my ask history, I am a bit of a hypochondriac.... I'm now paranoid that i'll get an infection!

FYI: I got my other wisdom teeth removed 2 years ago... and got really sick from the amxycillin. But don't i need SOME type of antibiotic?

Only if those teeth were infected. You would take the antibotics first for about 1 week before the surgery and then have the teeth extracted. Your teeth must not have been infected.

The only time we prescribe an antibiotic after extractions is if there is an infection already. You really don't need one. The pain killers he gave you is plenty. Be sure to follow their instructions to a T! As long as you do what they say you will do fine. They gave you a list f instructions correct?

No need for antibiotics unless you already had an infection. Even then, they would have made you take them before the extraction. Consider yourself lucky. All I got from them was 'extra strength' ibuprofen.

You would only need an antibiotic if there was chance of infection or if the infection already exists.
Keep an eye on it, if you start to feel abnormal pain then consult your doctor.

you do not necessarily need antibiotics, the only time a dentist will prescribe antibiotics for an extraction is if there is a heart condition that requires it. If you just follow your dentist's instructions you should be fine.
