If you do a lot of community/volunteer service in high school, will it do something if colege universities are looking in your academics paper? Will it help you get into the university or is community service just for NHS members?

Also, how can it get on your resume?

I work for a university and it DOES count for admittance. Not only this, but is a valuable asset in becoming well rounded, helping those less fortunate than yourself AND realizing, quite possibly, how LUCKY you are!

If, however, you are doing this soley to get into a college - you're missing one of the best parts of this life...helping others in need.

Sincerely,

Grace

Definitely, your Guidance Counselor should have told you about this. Try to do a variety of things, special projects are good, as well (toiletry drive for a local shelter, canned good drive for the food bank, etc), and show leadership as well as organizational skills. These are also good for your resume, just so you know, so keep track of all of your activities past college!

It certainly won't hurt you, but don't do it for the material reward, do it for the personal satisfaction that you helped someone else or your community at large.
