I have x1 guard dog in the house and will soon be getting another. I like the idea of having a dog in the house. Now I have alarms etc. but having a dog/s brings a little peace of mind. Do you think its unfair that if my dog attacks a burglar that I could get into trouble. At the end of the day who is to say that they only want to steal something? How do I know what they ( truly ) want to do? Surely it's only fair that If my dog/s attack in the art of protecting me that my dogs and me should not be punished. Do you agree?

I most certainly do agree.
The Constitution of the United States was written to guarantee every American certain rights. Now it seems most of our rights are being taken away because the criminals have all of them law abiding citizens have none.
I have 2 large dogs who guard very well.If someone breaks into my home and gets bitten I'm fully aware that I'll end up in court being sued by the fool. But I don't care.If he was on my property uninvited or God Forbid in my home where he did not belong and could not prove he was there uninvited for a life or death situation he could not avoid then he deserved to be bitten and the harder the better.I'll fight it in court.I have before and won.

the only way you or your dogs would be punished is if you were the one breaking in! you are doing the right things with your alarm and guard dog. i have 2 good size dogs that make me feel safe when i am alone and my hubby works shift work. my doors are never locked in the daytime or when i go out because they make such a noise that they scare people away. of course if someone wants to get in bad enough they will. as a kid my dad use to say if someone is going to break in or hurt you, shoot to kill or they will come back and sue you. i guess he was right the way the legal system is in some places. i'm sure the law would be on our side with or guard dogs.we are going by the rules and the robbers are not!

I think it's better to have a dog that would hold a burglar there so that the police can take care of things. Would you really want your dog to seriously hurt a person, just because he wanted to steal your stuff? Jail is sufficient, you don't need your dogs hurting people.

If they have entered your house without your consent, they I say I hope your dog eats them. We have dogs as pets, they are beloved members of our family, but if someone came into my house at night, unannounced, yes my dogs would attack them. And no court or police are going to tell me that my dogs did wrong. They should be thankful I didn't get the chance to shoot them.

I would rather my dog attack an intruder than me have to shoot the person. Look in the phone book and call an attorney for a free consultation. Ask them what the law is in your area.

Yeah, I do think it's stupid that you could get in to trouble if someone gets hurt breaking in to your house.

But I also think it's unfair to get a dog to protect you. If someone really wants to break in and do you some harm, they'll bring a weapon and your dog can't protect against that, so why put him in danger?

Dogs are pets; alarms and locks are for protection.

Wow, where do you live, down here in Texas if you break in, the dog is the least of your worries and there will be no charges or fines for the mess.
