Diet sodas are not good for anyone. It is true they don't have sugar but what makes them sweet is artificial sweeteners. These are man made chemicals. They actually attack the liver. When I went to see a naturapath, after a blood test it was revealed that I had a slight problem with my liver. I was told to avoid artificail sweetners and this also means extra chewing gum. Sugar is better than artificial sweeteners because at least it is natural. I would recommend just giving your kids real soft drinks rather than the diet ones, just as a treat. Water is the best thing. Second best is a weak cordial. Not sure what country you live in but in Australia cordial is a concentrated sugar drink that is mixed with water. I have been told in one of my previous questions that it is an alcoholic drink elsewhere. I don't know what cordial would be called in other countries but I am sure you have it but it is known as something else. Like soda is the same as soft drink in Australia. It is really inportant that humans get about 8 glasses of water a day, so kids who drink only soft drink (sodas) will not be getting anywhere near that. The cordial is still bad for their teeth but at least they will be getting their daily water intake.

Soda in general is not healthy for you and diet soda is especially harmful. Majority of diet soda's have aspartame in them and one of the main components of aspartame is methyl alcohol. When ingested this chemical turns into formaldehyde. Formaldehyde is toxic and carcinogenic it is typically used in laboratories to disinfect and preserve. The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has received more complaints about aspartame than any other ingredient to date! In addition when aspartame is combined with carbohydrates it slows down your brains production of serotonin. A healthy level of serotonin is what makes you happy and keeps you well balanced preventing depression.

Other diet drinks contain Splenda which " is the trade name for sucralose, a synthetic compound stumbled upon in 1976 by scientists in Britain seeking a new pesticide formulation. It is true that the Splenda molecule is comprised of sucrose (sugar) — except that three of the hydroxyl groups in the molecule have been replaced by three chlorine atoms." Chlorine is commonly used to clean pools and large bodies of stagnant water.

Diet soda also shares an ingredient with your standard bathroom cleanser, phosphoric acid. Phosphoric acid eats the mold on your tile and the lining of your stomach! One or two diet soda’s won’t kill you but consumption over time can lead to major health issues. There are many alternatives to soda try chocolate milk, fresh fruit juices, and smoothies, introduce your children to healthy tea’s with natural sweetener’s like raw brown sugar, and blue agave nectar which can be found at you local grocery store. Healthy habits start at a young age good luck!

Don't give your kids any sodas. If you ever visit a factory and see where and how they make them you wouldn't like to drink yourself either. Also accidents happen in the mixing tanks-they can be polluted with anything.
Take some time and make them fresh orange juices and carrot juice. My mother used to do that and I grew up loving eating and drinking natural food. Don't have any health problems either.
Junk food and sodas taste ugly after your organism gets used to fresh food.

No. Use a search engine. Look up the side effects of artificial sweeteners. Even the side effects listed as minimal or low percentage occuring will affect kids. Their bodies are smaller and their immune systems are not fully developed. You won't immediately see the harmful effects, but as your children get older and develop health problems, you will wonder what effect the diet sodas had.

It wouldn't be healthy for them, so no. Diet soda is actually much worse than regular soda, because of the sugar it contains. I would just stick with water, which is probably the best beverage to give them, or maybe juice or milk. =)

Believe it or not there is still a debate as to which is better. Diet has a ton of aspertane and other chemicals, and regular pop is like drinking liquid sugar. My guess is that diet probably would be better though, however as previously stated, all things in moderation.

Yeah, but in moderation. Don´t give them 10 or 15 sodas of any kind. It is better if they drink water or juice, especially for their teeth. I drank sodas all my life and my teeth are worthless.
