No. They are nonconformists. The first churches to leave the Roman Catholic fold were the Anglican/Lutheran/Episcopalian Churches, but they kept some of the features of the Roman Catholic Church in their worship. The Baptist Church began in the nineteenth century as a breakaway movement from the established churches, as it was opposed to infant baptism and insisted (as it still does) on believers' baptism by total immersion, something not normally practised by those other churches.

Sorry to say that ALL of these answers have been incorrect so far. YES! All protestants ARE catholic insofar as the Catholic truth that they have maintained (ie, not switched since they left the church) is catholic teaching towards salvation.
As Pope Benedict stated, there is not salvation outside of catholic truth. That means that we consider different protestant churches to be catholic to the degree that they still teach catholic truth. They are our seperated bretheren.

The word Catholic means universal. Baptists are not universal. If you are referring to Roman Catholics (who are also not universal) then Baptists are not Roman Catholic. Baptists are a product of the Lutheran Reformation which dispensed with the Roman Church in its entirety.

No, they are 2 different religions. I've heard of baptized Catholics, but I've never seen a Baptist Catholic church.
