if you were hospitalized for severe depression would you go to a mental or regular hospital?

In my area, if I were hospitalized with severe depression, I would be placed in a mental hospital. That's because there are several mental hospitals within a 100 mile radius here. It's also because my insurance wouldn't cover treatment for severe depression unless I was placed in a mental hospital.

But many areas don't have mental hospitals, and a lot of people don't have insurance. So what Jack gets isn't necessarily what Jill gets.

Regular hospitals have psych. units.
One could also go to a psych. hospital if there is one in his/her area.
There are also State Hospitals if someone needs to be committed for an extended period of time. Although I think these kind of hospitals are being done away with.

mental, but i think it's better for people to stay at home and get help from therapy, unless they are dangerous.
