you can rent a van at the airport, believe me someone will approach you. taxis are too small to carry 4 people and luggages. not sure of the cost maybe someone here has taken a van in the past.

Stick to a taxi you cannot rent a van derectly from the airport. The other choices are
1 call your hotel and get them to send a van over - May be a little expensive depending on the hotel.
2 grab a cab into town (1 or 2 of you) and then get a van to pick the rest and to Pattaya straight. The charges wil not be too much extra as the airport is between Bangkok and Pattaya.
Have fun!

Taxis plenty at the airport. Maybe you can get 2 as the cabs have limited luggage space because of their gas tank. Fare is about 1000-1500 baht. 300 baht will only get you into the city centre, not Pattaya.

Your best bet is to take a taxi.I travel twice a year to Pattaya and I have always managed to get a taxi for about 1000 - 1200 bahts. You may be able to get a mini bus outside the airport but I cannot guarantee this.I shall be there next week for three months and I know I won't have to worry about transport to my hotel. It has never been a problem. You will find the taxi's are quite roomy and have plenty of space.

When I was there, the moment I walk out of the customs, already there were ground transport concierge. We hired a mini van for ten people. We only have seven people. It is aorund 3000baht one way. It will bring you to your hotel. When you reach there and is satisified with the service, ask how much for a return trip (you can bargain), the driver will come and pick you at your hotel. We had a nice time at Pattaya.

First choice would be a taxi, van preferable right. Should cost between 1000 and 1500 baht plus 50 baht airport fee.

Second choice would limo or sedan, again preferably a van. This would cost up to 2000 baht or more.

See above links for airport location
Good luck.
