when you mix any two colors with yellow what colors do you get?

I'm baking cupcakes with yellow cake mix and i want to add food coloring...i know red makes it pink and blue makes it green...what does green make? or if you add two colors to yellow what colors do you get? i would really like a purple or red

You can't get purple from yellow. You can get yellow-green (spring green) by adding green to yellow. You will get ORANGE when you mix red with yellow. You will get brown if you add red and blue. Red is a primary color. You can only get red from red, adding red to yellow makes it orange. Purple is only made with red and blue. If you add red and blue to yellow, you'll get brown. White cakes are really the only ones you can make purple or red.

Hmm, I would have thought adding red would make it orange, rather than pink.... perhaps cake mix is different than paint.

red and blue will give you purple, but you'd probably need a lot to overcome the yellow. Or go with a lot of red to overcome the yellow.

How about getting a white cake mix?

Basic art class answer here.... you cannot get purple or red from mixing a color with yellow. Unless of course you use a LOT of other colors to offset the yellow in your yellowcake mix. HOW? If you want red, use lots of red....... and you will get red. If you want purple, you need to use lots of red and blue...... good luck!

A drop of blue to some red will give purple. If you add green to yellow, you will get a shade of citrine (yellowish green, sort of a very pale lime green.) To experiment, you might like to try it with water first. Have small glasses of water and add the colours, remembering how many drops of each colour you used, to achieve the desired shade. The intensity depends on how many drops of any colour you use.

If you want purple, mix red and blue. For red, use a larger quantity of red than normal.
