what does it mean when a guy hugs a girl and rubs her back at the same time. especially when they haven't seen that person in about 5 years? thanx!

ok. we used to have a crush on each other back in high school. but we never went out. then i moved away and hadn't seen him since. i ran into him at a store and it seemed that he was happy to see me. he had never hugged me before. and i just wanted to know if that ment anything.
