One really has to look at the roots of monogamy to understand the various biblical strictures and 2 understand the double standard towards women. A married man could sleep with concublines in the bible--no problem--but if a married woman slept with another man, they killed her. A woman was supposed to be a virgin and faithful during marriage because the first born son inherited all the fathers estate. A man could sleep with a concubine--even have children by them--but they were not the official children so to speak. If a man beds a monogamous woman there is no doubt of parantage. If the woman slept with multiple partners--the parentage of the child would be in question. These biblical laws had little to do with morality and everythng to do with property.

What has religion got to do with sex? The church tried to stop people enjoying sex to keep them from contraception and therefore keep them poor (lots of kids) and subserviant to the church. It's the 21st Century - get a life folks.

I'm Muslim. Pre marital and extra marital sex are haraam. Sex between a married couple is hala. If one has pre marital sex then they are ruining society and are just like the animals. Same with extra martial sex. It also makes you like the animals. Plus if you have sexual relations with someone other then your spouse you are committing Zina and a sin and could possibly pick up a disease like HIV or AIDS and transmit it to your partner when you have sex with your wife or husband. It also helps stem the rise of babies born out of wedlock and mistresses.
