Dear Wondering Faith,

I'm giving you my very own personal BEST Question of the Day Award.

The October 29 lesson in The Daily Walk Bible is John 9-12 so all day today I've been pondering John 12:35-36

Then Jesus told them, "You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. The man who walks in the dark does not know where he is going. Put your trust in the light while you have it, so that you may becomes sons of light. NIV

I find it strange that Watchtower followers say the exact opposite of what Jesus said. He talked of the light diminishing and they talk of new light.

For His glory,
JOYfilled

The role of the sheeple involved with the JW organization is to go door to door to garner "donations" for their magazine company. Is their open debate in any company? Hardly. The everyday sheeple believe whatever the magazine company tells them as they believe the watchtower organization is God's spokesperson on earth. Would you question God?

If you question ANYTHING--you are under the threat of being thrown out, being totally ostracized by every single person who is also involved--whether they are your children, marriage partner, parent or friend. They will publically shun and shame you unless you concede that you were wrong to question them and beg their forgiveness for even allowing such thoughts to come to your mind, let alone to be voiced aloud. They all live under this threat and fear.

The only source of "light" in their organization is from the company that they serve--the watchtower.

I find it interesting that the "light bearer" in the bible is also called lucifer.

To PediC Again:

That quote is from the Question Box in the September 2007 Kingdom Ministry. It even says that one shouldn't learn Hebrew or Greek to get more out of the scriptures- that one should be content with what the WTB&TS says the scriptures say. They want everyone to "take THEIR word for it!"

I loved JoyFilled's answer!!!! Can't believe I never registered that scripture before! Its amazing, isn't it? How much we don't know, or were never allowed to learn?

Only the governing body is allowed to discern "new light" and anyone who openly debates, disagrees with or suggests "new light" will be subjected to the judicial committee system and probably disfellowshpped and labeled an apostate.

their literature discourages "independent study groups." I need to find the article that says that specifically but I don't have it right now.

CaliHavoc, thank you for finding the source of my information.
