What is the story here? Why do U always see batteries labled "0% mercury"???

Some batteries use mercury. The amount is usually pretty small, and unlikely to be released from inside the battery.
Still, some environmentally conscious people would prefer not to use those batteries. So the others are labeled.

About 10years ago, people use mercury and silver to make batteries but soon after, they found there's poison in mercury so.........it pollute the water then they decided not to use mercury in batteries anymore but some companies still do. (Mercury Batteries are cheaper)

Can you see taking a very toxic substance and for years redistributing it all over the earth in just enough concentration to mess things up but not enough to sterilize the planet. Well we have done that to everything you can think of from radiation to lead (which every time someone scrapes a house they are then redistributing is all over again).

i think mercury used to be a reagant or part of battery acid
