Nope, he has to be ready to quit. You can't make him. Find a an AA group near you that meets weekly, most do and try to get him to go with you. That's the best you can do. It may take time but keep trying.

You can't make somebody quit drinking. That's the first thing they'll tell you in codependency programs like Al-Anon.
He'll have to come to the conclusion that drinking 100(!?) bottles of beer in a week is ridiculous.

You can't "make" him quit drinking, nothing will work. I'm dealing with the same thing with a roommate, we've tried everything, including an intervention, threatening to kick him out even pouring his booze down the drain. Don't get me wrong, I drink too but his is out of control. The only thing that has changed through doing all that is that now he hides his alcohol in his room and thinks we don't know about it. Your friend is going to have to figure out on his own that he has a problem and that he wants to change it. I'm sorry and I feel for you in this situation, hope everything works out.

If only it were that easy. The person in question has to want it for themselves. There's not much you can do if someone really wants to drink. They are going to regardless of all your pleading and begging etc. Is your friend drinking out of habit or is he actually addicted to the alcohol - that's the question. Just because a person drinks large amounts doesn't necessarily brand them an alcoholic in my opinion. But there's a pretty good chance of it with the amounts you mention.

How old is he?
How long has this been going on?
Odds are if he drives a car he's got to be drunk or drinking while driving most of the time. YOu can try to scare him with horror stories of drunk driving accidents. or with graphic pictures and descriptions of people dying from pserosis of the liver. If he's addicted and an alcoholic he will not listen to reason and you can not make him quit. It's sad, and stupid.
and that's coming from a drinker... I like my beer and whiskey better in moderation.

There is no way to get someone to quit drinking unless they want to quit. I used to know someone who drank two cases of beer a night (48 beers a night). The only time he didn't drink is if he ran out of money and couldn't spunge off of my sister or his "friend." Your friend has to want to quit.

No.
Your friend has to make this choice not you or anyone else can.
You could try and distract your friend from their drinking routine, but you will only find that they will make an excuse not to get involved
They will stop when they are good and ready and only then!
Sorry i know it's hard to watch them :(

Hi! If this is someone close to you consider calling your local Alanon or Alateen group. You can't make somebody quit but you can be supportive without being codependent!

Super Glue his mouth up ?? Failing that chop his head off ??
On a serious note he has to WANT to give up and no matter what you do to try and stop it you won't especially if he feels like he's being bullied.

You can't really. It's a person's choice and there body. But you can encourage them not to. That's the most friend-appropriate way.
