you will be much better off in a van of some sort. thay have the seats higher off the ground, and more headroom too. if this is beyond your budget/size requirements try a people carrier or similar as these have more room in them. take a few cars on test drives (try out mates' even) to get an idea. my husband is 6'3" and has similar problems with cars. we have an astra which he is ok in for short journeys, and he was quite happy in our peugeot 405estate but since getting a van in work he feels much better, though he has asked for the newer model which has a fully adjustable seat. (theyre LDV vans, the seat adjusts up/down, back/forward, base tilts, back tilts, and the lower part of the chair back can be pushed in or out to give lumbar support.) he very much enjoyed driving a friends VW transporter too, as again the seat is much further from the floor than in a car, and has decided that our next vehicle will be something similar.
if you can afford it a van will be loads better for your back, and the investment will be well worth it.

Two cars I would suggest would be the Jaguar XJ8L which is my car of choice. The Mercedes E Class would have seats that would conform to your height also. (This is the car driven by a friend of mine who is 6'3" and has had a 3 level spine fusion - he also is a spine surgeon so I guess he should know)

I get low back pain and my current car is particularly comfortable. Its a Landrover Freelander 2, but any high SUV would offer the same benefits

A relative of mine is 6'8" tall, and he found that the citroen berlingo gave the best driving position and headroom for him. Might be worth a test drive?
