best thing to do just to make sure he is ok is to ring an on call doctor or an amberlance it better to be safe than sorry, it wont take long for them to check him over.
hope he's ok.

I have had the same thing happen, and once the antibiotic was stopped, the rash lasted a few days and was nothing more than a minor annoyance. If your son is still feeling ill, it more likely to be from the condition that prompted the doc to prescribe anitbiotics or maybe the antihistamine. If the only things wrong is lingering effects from the allergic reaction, the only concern about sending him to school is whether the anithistamine will make him too sleepy to function.
It would be a good idea to tease out what he means by feeling ill. If he means tired and washed out - thats likely a side effect from the antihistamine. If its something entirely different, it might warrant another trip to the doctor ( or a different doctor)

You are right to be a bit cynical. I spent 30 years watching inappropriate antibiotics given to chesty children and trying to persuade other doctors not to continue this practise. At least 85% of antibiotics prescribed in this way are being given for viral illness which will be unaffected.
In 2000 there was a small drop in prescribing, but over the last 7 years the levels have risen once more!
I am afraid it is impossible to guess when an individual will be fit and well, there are too many variables, bedrest is now almost never felt to be helpful, so I would rule that out as an option, but neither would I easily send a child back to school who was still complaining he felt unwell.
Sorry I can't be more helpful.

i am allergic to several medicines including antibiotics.
The anti histimine will make him tired.
He should stay off school in the short term.
If his rash worsens or he has a temperature call the doctor immediatley.
