To them, it is an insult, and a blow to their ego. If they think they are superhot then they expect all girls to go gaga over them. When they are rejected, then they shut out and act stupid to whoever caused that rejection. Its sort of a "to hell with you" thing. If they really liked you then they are probably trying to make it easier for them to get over you.

I had one get very nasty when I first came to Y!A. I told him I wasn't looking to date anyone and he didn't appreciate it.
Why they insult... I think it's their first reaction to being turned down. That's the type you would not want anyway. Some have been really decent and stayed friends.

Defense mechanism. Some people do that to help keep their feelings from being hurt, instead of just letting it go and not taking it personally.

It's a defensive mechanism of rejection. Rejection doesn't feel good and a lot of times makes us mad. Not just guys do this. If someone "wants" you and they realize they aren't going to "get" you...then it ticks them off.

Ego, I know alot of guys like that. They think that all women should fall to their knees for them and if we don't then we are just crazy bitc*es who don't deserve the time of day.

I don't know...never happen....but, when guy try to get my attention...they sure are acting like jerk...i meant be yourself...it's more attractive....

Because they feel insecure about them selves .. And insulting you makes them feel bigger and better. Because you insulted their ego by turning him down ..
