God has ordained that only men are to serve in positions of spiritual teaching authority in the church. This is not because men are necessarily better teachers, or because women are inferior or less intelligent (which is not the case). It is simply the way God designed the church to function. Men are to set the example in spiritual leadership – in their lives and through their words. Women are to take a less authoritative role. Women are encouraged to teach other women (Titus 2:3-5). The Bible also does not restrict women from teaching children. The only activity women are restricted from is teaching or having spiritual authority over men. This logically would include women serving as pastors / preachers. This does not make women less important, by any means, but rather gives them a ministry focus more in agreement with how God has gifted them.

Ok, I get your point about 1 Cor, but what about prophetess? What would you consider them? They are mentioned in the Bible, they are not many, but they are there?

Ok--did some research & here is more of what I found:
To start with the references for verse 34 means don’t speak to him (the husband) at church about your concerns wait until you get home so it won’t disturb or cause confusion in the service. Also if a woman is not married she needs to wait until later to ask her question not during service.

You can read Miriam in Exodus 15:20 she was a prophetess, Deborah in Judges 4:4 she was a prophetess and judge, Huldah in 2 Kings 22:14 she was a prophetess and Anna in Luke 2:36 she, too, was a prophetess and there are many other accounts like the woman at the well, Jesus told to go and tell what I have done and the list goes on and on.

Personally, I don’t think I would like to have a woman Pastor for no other reason then they have a tendency to think with their hearts more than their heads sometimes. However, the Bible makes it clear they are leaders in many ways and positions throughout time.

1 Tim. 2:12-14: 12 But I do not permit a woman to teach or to assert authority over a man, but to be in quietness. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve; 14 And Adam was not deceived; but the woman , having been quite deceived, has fallen into transgression.
* (1)teach
To teach here means to teach with authority, to define and
decide the meaning of doctrines concerning divine truth. For a woman to teach in this way or to exercise authority over a man is to leave her position. In God's creation man was ordained to be the head, and woman to be in subjection to man (1·Cor. 11:3). In the church this ordination should be kept.
* (2)quietness
I.e., silence, abstention from speaking.

You can preach the gospel to your friends or family, but you cannot be the one that take the lead to teach, to be a preacher.

Yes if they are called by God.
the first female evangalist was a samaritan women
"come see the man who knew everything about me she said"
Paul said he did not permit a woman to have authority or teach men. This would mean she shouldn't be the pastor or the Apostle or Prophet of the church. Many women are called to evangalize and preach in that capacity. Joyce Meyer is obviously called by God. As is Marilyn Hickey and others. Their husbands are their "covering".

Mary & Matha were said to be preachers ... also in Acts's is talks more about women preachers ... but ah, preacher is different from Priest.

My faith teaches only men can be Priests; and I agree. To understand this you would need to educate yourself more on the Catholic faith. We do have women read the Bible at Mass; but they don't "Transfigure" the Eucharist into Jesus.

In the book of Timothy Paul says that women shall not have authority over a man in worship and that women are to keep silent. So, then, it is apparently okay for a woman to preach to other women and children according to Paul's words.

But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. (1 Timothy 2:12 KJV)

1Co 14:33-35 . . .As in all the congregations of the holy ones, 34 let the women keep silent in the congregations, for it is not permitted for them to speak, but let them be in subjection, even as the Law says. 35 If, then, they want to learn something, let them question their own husbands at home, for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in a congregation.

The reason for this is that women are not the head of man, but man is the woman's head.

On the contrary.
Women should never speak in church, nor should they teach or interrupt men.
Hey, it's in the bible and it's not my book of myths and fairy tales...

Right, here;
"Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church" (1 Corinthians 14:34-35).

LOL I get 3 thumbs down for pointing out exactly how women are portrayed and treated in the bible! You guys REALLY hate the truth huh?
