are you talking for Mid Tour leave/R&R, Convalescent Leave, Emergency Leave. end of deployment? what? need more details.

If they are on deployment, they can't just come back any time they want to. Mid Tour leave is 14 days(starting fromwhen they arrive home). Anything else must constitute an emeregncy and doesn't have to be granted.

So, for instance; if you are pregnant and have a normal birth, he will not be allowed to come home. If His Mother dies, he MIGHT be able to come home for a few days to attend the funeral, but will have to go right back. Some commands will allow them to take their 2 week R&R to accommodate a birth or death( my cousin was able to come home in time to say good bye to his mother, but it was counted as his 2 weeks R&R.

We need more information. Come back for what? Unless we know what he would come back for, there is no way to answer.

Without specifics, I will say that there is no definite answer anyway. Soldiers are not guaranteed to come home after any particular time frame, for any length of time, for any reason. All depends on the mission and the chain of command.

If you're talking about R&R, it is not guaranteed. Some units give it, some don't. Some allow the service member to take R&R in country, without coming home. If R&R leave is authorized, it is generally somewhere half way through the deployment that is 12 months or longer, and the average length of time is 2 weeks. But again, not everyone is guaranteed to receive R&R.

We need to fill in a few gaps first.
When did he or she go?
Is he or she entitled leave time (vacation)?
What did the original orders say?
Is there a rear detachment representative from the unit you can speak with?
