Yes. The heart is pretty much central in the chest but leans a bit to the left. In a small minority of people, it leans a bit to the right instead. I'm sorry I can't remember what this is called.

Sometimes it is associated with all organs being situated on the opposite side (like liver is on the left side, etc.) that is called 'situs invertus'.
Its importance is in diagnosing diseases. Like pain in heart attack may be on right side or in the right arm, appendicitis pain will be on the left side etc.

I have heard of that. It think most of the other organs are also on the opposite side too. It would freak the doctor out! HA

yea, theres actually 2 different conditions i think...one where just the heart is reverseda nd is mostly on the right side and one where all of your insides are flip flopped...its called situs invertis, not sure on the spelling though
