When your tired, it is just a build up of fluid that causes the dark rings. you know how when you have a nice long sleep, your eyes water when your sleeping? Well cos you haven't had enough sleep it just stays there. A great way to get rid of them is to gently but firmly tap the bags to disperse the water. And it does actually work if you have the patience lol Best just getting a good night's sleep eh?

Hi CJ! From what I've read about puffy bags and dark circles under eyes. . .the best way to treat anything is to always find it's cause to remedy it. Proper diet and a good night sleep is a great way to start. Unidentified allergies or identified ones can also be the cause of both the puffiness and dark circles under the eye. Speaking of a proper diet, don't forget a multivitamin may help too. In the meantime, I know you're looking for a quick fix! So . . . try using a topical Vitamin K serum or cream for your dark circles. Do your research on it and I'm sure you'll be trying this asap! =) Since you'll be placing it very close to the eye area, I would go with finding it in a serum form because serums are not oily and you won't have to worry about it running into your eyes as oil based products could. Also, get plenty of sleep and make sure you're drinking adequate amounts of water daily. Seriously! If you need help let me know. Good luck!

This is just a guess... but maybe the lack of sleep causes your eyes to work overtime and blood rushes to them more heavily to help them out. Maybe the dark circles are just blood rushing under the skin? Just like a black eye. Good question. You could probably look it up in a medical journal.

Almost everyone gets dark circles under their eyes from time to time. Dark circles under eyes usually are temporary and not a medical concern.

You may be surprised to learn that fatigue usually isn't the cause of dark circles. Instead, the most common cause is nasal congestion. When your nose is congested, veins that usually drain from your eyes into your nose become widened (dilated) and darker.

Another cause of undereye circles is eyelid swelling during sleep. When you lie down, gravity can cause fluid to collect in your lower eyelids. This swelling may create the appearance of shadows below your eyes. In addition, dark circles can result from chronic skin conditions, such as atopic eczema. Dark circles can also run in families.

Over-the-counter products may help diminish dark circles under eyes. Look for skin creams that contain vitamin C or K, alpha hydroxy acid and kinetin. Treatment for chronic and severe undereye circles is directed at the underlying cause, if known, and may include bleaching agents and laser therapy.

A lack of sleep or excessive tiredness can cause paleness of the skin, which again allows the blood underneath the skin to become more visible and appear more blue or darker.

Some skin care experts say that fatigue has nothing to do with the dark circles, but it has to do with when one lies down. Gravity can cause fluid to collect in the lower eye lid.

Some thyroid disorders can be cured, but many require lifetime treatment. Learn here https://tr.im/uUoyO
For example, sometimes early stage thyroid cancer can be cured by surgery to remove the thyroid gland, but you will need to take thyroid hormone medication afterwards for the rest of your life. Goiters can also be surgically removed and do not always recur after surgery. In most cases, thyroid disorders need treatment over a lifetime. However, with treatment most people with thyroid disorders can live normal, healthy lives.
