I'm not from the UK, but I can suggest that you contact the police. Tell them what is happening with this dog. They might be able to help out. It's not wrong for being concerned, I would be too. The owners of this dog should at least be talked too and told what their dog is doing. They might not even be aware that their dog is killing other animals.

It is one rare dog who can chase, catch, bring down, and kill a deer of any size. It is even more incredulous that it is a staffie type dog who has done so, as they generally wold have not enough prey drive, speed, agility, size or desire to do what you have described.
Are you totally sure this dog did not 'catch' and already injured, or even dead, deer?
Hunting with dogs IS illegal in Britain, but I know many lurcher men who would still pay a fortune for a dog with the [dubious] 'skills' you describe.
The aspect of this dog running wild is a totally separate issue, which should DEFINITELY be reported to the police, dog warden, council, neighbourhood watch and any other community groups in the area. - and I would say this whether the dog has fought other dogs or not. It is dangerous to itself and others, and MUST be taken under control - if the owner isn't willing to act, then you should keep on at the authorities until one of them do.

Wow a dog killed a deer! You dont see that everyday!! Well think you should reprt it. The dog is just running around killing animals with out its owner! And even if it was deer season the meat is still being wasted! The owner will probably get fined

here in the U.S., in the state of Pennsylvania anyway, it is illegal to have your dog run without being leashed. if at any time i am out in the deer woods, hunting or not, and see a dog running deer i am legally allowed to shoot the dog.
a couple of years ago there was an article in the paper where this guy in the suburbs of Philadelphia would let his little lap dog out to chase deer from his property. one day a buck turned on the dog and impaled the pooch with its antlers. the dog's owner called the local Wildlife Conservation Officer (WCO) to come out and destroy the buck. the WCO went out to investigate. after the owner told the WCO the story he issued the dog's owner a citation for $100 for allowing the dog run deer.

Unless you saw the dog kill the deer, there is little you can do.
Report the animal as running free.

Apparently one dog is OK, two dogs are considered hunting. I would definitely report it, it's not just pets but what about children playing in the area? People should be held responsible for the behavior of their pets.

Yes, report it. Dogs should not be running around loose, and if it has the killer instinct, it's dangerous and must be contained. A deer is no less valuable than a small dog.

yes you should report it!and i really do feel bad for this dog that is running wild, this is what happens when a puppy is NOT trained properly and it gets too big and out of control!
and for the mom with twins....ROTTWEILERS ROCK!same with pitbulls.some little dogs have been known to be even more vicious then bigger ones.all dogs are just dogs and i love em all.they need to be trained properly and in the right hands!!
