What about Iraqi children being tortured? Will you call your elected Representative and register your official outrage?

>>Child prisoners abused and tortured<<

Oct. 25- Iraqi NGOs have raised concerns about the condition of children in local prisons, saying they are abused and tortured during interrogation.

"Children are being treated as adults in Iraqi prisons and our investigations have shown that they are being abused and tortured," said Khalid Rabia'a, a spokesman for the Prisoners' Association for Justice (PAJ).

"Our investigation started after families brought their five sons to our organization looking for psychological help for their children who were recently released from prison, and what we found out was shocking," Rabia'a added.

According to Rabia'a, child prisoners between 13 and 17 are being accused of supporting insurgents and militias.

Most were detained during Iraqi army military operations in the Baghdad neighborhoods of Adhamiya, Latifiya, Alawi, Doura and Hay al-Adel.

"The five children showed signs of torture all over their bodies. Three had marks of cigarettes burns over their legs and one couldn't speak as the shock sessions affected his conversation," Rabia'a said. "It is against international law that protects children and we call for interventions in all Iraqi prisons to save the lives of these children."

The Ministry of Interior denied the accusations, saying children and youth taken for interrogation are released after a maximum of 48 hours without being abused or tortured. A campaign against child abuse is being launched in Baghdad with the support of Iraq's Vice-President Tarek al-Hashimy.

"Iraq respects human rights conduct for children and adults and our prisons aren't used for torture. Earlier scandals were reported and those responsible were punished.

The accusations are wrong and they cannot prove it," Lt. Col. Ali Khalid Hussein, senior official at the Ministry of Interior, told IRIN.

However, another senior official from the ministry, who requested anonymity and who has been supplying the NGO with daily updates, told IRIN that every Iraqi prison is holding at least 20 children and they are all suffering abuse.

Rabia'a said the NGO had informants in many Iraqi prisons but since they did not want to be named, they could not go to court and prove the abuses were taking place.

At least 220 children are believed to be held in Iraqi prisons. IRIN requested permission to visit the prisons said to be holding child prisoners but the request was denied.

I believe it is actually worse than you are thinking, if that is possible. Quite recently a Republican Activist and Profiteer who had a very large contract at Abu Garaib was arrested for selling Child porn on the Internet.

The Prosecutor would only say that they were taken "outside the country" and mentioned that they "might be" S&M on toddlers. Now information is hard to come by, and no report has all the information, but the case is suddenly unprosecuted and the accused is in rehab like it was a drinking problem.

The trouble with secrecy is that the most heinous and obvious answer is the only one available, and will appear the most likely until there is no secrecy and cover up.

Given the known history of GOP depravity, and the total lawlessness of the contractor situation in Iraq we can be fairly certain that we have not heard the worst of it.

I believe the Republicans spoke very clearly with their Party Line Vote.

I agree with their assessment that they cannot find any possible way to financially benefit from helping sick American children, not of Party families.

Our pols need dollars, more now that these same pols presided over the devaluation of our monetary unit.

The Party slogan must be something like:

'Poor kids be damned!

We have enough white slaves for the time being!'

Leavenworth? Did someone mention...Leavenworth?

Coffee, meet kettle. Now that Ban has taken over the U.N., he has been forced with the undaunting task of routing out the 316 known cases of statutory rape and pediphilia that occured just last year by members of the U.N. Had the U.N. actually done its job in the first place, the U.S. lead coalition of force would not be in Iraq today.
And, according to ABC News 20/20, republicans donate far more both percentage wise as well as out and out monetary numbers wise than do the democrats. That being true, I am lead to believe that you are incorrect in assuming that republicans care less for children. The numbers speak for themselves, and what makes it all the more interesting is that ABC is a liberal news source. As for your choice of news sources, it's even more flawed with bias than is ABC News.

If a person is attempting to kill you, that person is no longer a child.

Even in the United States persons who would normally be tried and Juveniles are tried as adults if they commit particularly heinous crimes.

The people that you are talking about are enemy combatants who fought against the Iraqi government.

When these young people start killing they no longer deserve to be treated as children.

Although I normally prefer to criticize Republicans, on this issue it is a decision for the Iraqis themselves to make, not the Republicans. We should stand back and let the Iraqis decide how they want to handle the issue of young people who are trying to kill Iraqis.

It is the Iraqis decision whether to treat those young people as children or as adults.

I would say that Republicans care MORE about children than most Democrats ... they contribute more money overall to charities and children's care organizations (out of their own pockets) than do the politicians on the Democrat side of the aisle.

Republicans also oppose abortion, which is nothing less than the murder of the most innocent, indefensible children.

The examples of child torture you speak of are not in the control of the U. S. Government, regardless of which party you intend to criticize. Prisons in Iraq are run by the Iraqi Government.

Why don't you go over there and lodge your complaint with their Ministry of the Interior? Instead of trying to lay the blame on some American politicians you seem to disagree with.

And why haven't we heard of any Democrats trying to do something about the alleged torture of Iraqi children in Iraqi prisons?

I have yet to hear of this on any nightly newscast and this seems to be something that the "lame-stream" media would jump all over in order to smear Jorge Boosh.

It's disappointing and disturbing, but why are the children being held? you have to realize a lot of places and organizations use children as soldiers and weapons. If these kids are collaborating with the enemy well they are responsible for their fates.

One of the worst murders/torturers in Rwanda civil war was a child, not even 16 and he was infamous for his brutality and murderous nature. because he is a child should he not be responsible for his actions?

Am I justifying the imprisonment and torture of children? Of course no. but the situation there goes beyond our understanding of the world. Children solders and suicide bombers is nothing new to the region, you need to stop looking at the situation with western eyes. you will see there is often a lot we could not ever understand.

Stone K, two wrongs never make a right. Even if these children are terrorists, that doesn't make it acceptable to torture them.
