Isn't that jus a waist of time? I mean if its not a religon then why bother Converting? Is it a way 4 them to justify to themselves the existance of GOD?

wow a generalisation. I do not try to convince others that God does not exist, but always seem to hear plenty of christians trying to convince people God does exist.

So do us all a favour. Shhhhhhhhhh!

I wonder this myself. I have made some conclusions myself, may be wrong but it is what I'm going with right now.

1) Some are still searching and I don't believe they are truly convinced there is no God. So instead of questioning themselves, it is easier to question others.

2) Some are looking for encouragement from other atheist that they are right in their thinking.

3) Some really just hate Christians and are very angry individuals

4) Some think they are funny

5) Some are arrogant and want to show the world how smart they think they are.

Here are some reasons I like them being here.

1) They strengthen my faith. I can't explain it, I don't even know when it started. I used to get really frustrated seeing their post bashing and mocking my beliefs. But now every time I read a question or answer like that, I thank God that I have something to believe in and humble myself with.

2) Like it or not, some of them are pretty damn funny and creative.

3) Having atheist here keeps some of the focus off of the radical believers, that give us a bad name.

Then again, those are just my thoughts and I may be totally off.

Edit: Heathen Daughter...it doesn't go both ways. I don't try to convert people, but I understand why a lot of Christians do. If you new for a fact (or at least believed it yourself to be fact) of something beneficial to people, would you try to convince others of it also? Now, what would you think of those who try to prove you wrong?

Every person on the planet to some degree will try to convince others that what they think is either correct or the best. Atheists dont believe in God, so they are going to try to convince people that there is no God. Just like Christians believe in God, and try to convince people that there is one.

I do not see atheist going door to door and convincing others that God does not exist.

Atheism, as a philosophical view, is the position that either affirms the nonexistence of gods or rejects theism. When defined more broadly, atheism is the absence of belief in deities, alternatively called nontheism.

Therefore, your other questions seem irrelevant.

Aesity means self-existence. Aesity explains the metaphysical nature of God as a purely self-existent being that exists in complete actuality. God is not a being that is created by another god; neither does God create himself into existence. Rather, God has always existed as an unchanging, completely actualized being.

God has his Being of himself and to himself such that he is Absolute being and the definition of existence.
Since God’s essence is his nature and God’s existence is the same as his essence it follows that God is existence.

I have a problem with anyone who tries to force, bully or ridicule another into going along with their beliefs, and this includes certain folks that call themselves Christians, but don't act Christ-like. You believe what you believe and you respect other people's right to believe what they believe.

To answer your question, yes, it is pretty much a waste of time, especially in this forum. I think there may be some that need some justification, but these would be people who are more questioning (agnostics), then actually atheists.

It sounds like someone is just trying to understand why you don't think the same way they do.

And really what does it matter what someone else thinks or believes? Whatever gets you through the day, be it science or god, or a good mixture of both, ultimately when you sign off of this site at the end of the day, you're still going to believe whatever you want to believe.

Ask yourself why theists try to convince others that God DOES exsist, and you will likely have your answer.

However, until atheists start demanding that teachers start leading students in recitations of "There is no God" or start demanding that "God is dead" be printed on our money, or start re-writing the pledge to include the words "one nation, God is dead", then I won't worry to much about atheist evangelising.

I only see it on internet forums set up specifically to debate religion. I have never seen an atheist standing on the street corner, screaming at passers by, that God doesn't exsist.

Why do Holies try to convince Atheists that "god" does exist
? Isn't that a waste of time ? Do they really expect intelligent people to believe in the impossible ? Fairy tales are for kids. Atheists have out-grown them .

Why do Christians spend so muh time trying to convince everyone that he DOES?
Goes both way there cupcake.

I am speaking of those who DO try to convert. Here's the thing. I am blissful in my religion. I think it's the best thing in the whole world. BUT I don't tell everyone about it. Why? Why WOULD I? If the gods want you to hear them, you will. They are not easy to ignore. So it DOES go both ways. Just because you THINK your right, doesn't give you the right to try to prove ME wrong.

The same reason Christians try to convince us God does exist! I am neither, it's just how I see it.

How does denying something exist justify it's existance? That makes no sense.

I have never had an Atheist try to convince me that my Gods don't exist. Probably because I don't try to convince them that they do.
