I have a chocolate lab that started small but now weighs 87 pounds of solid muscle and is 1 year old.

Labs come in a lot of different sizes and body shapes so it's impossible to tell with just age and weight stats. If his ribs aren't showing, he's likely fine. If you're not sure, ask your vet how his weight is.

Dogs are like any living mammal they all grow at there own rate. It is best if you are worried ask a vet. But it sounds normal to me.
