I have a no solicitators, no canvassers, no peddlers sign on my door -- they ignore it and knock anyway.

A long time ago I requested that they please take me off their list and stop visiting my home. They rudely ignore this and continue to make visits almost once a month.

It is so annoying!

Is there anything you can suggest so that I might be able to stop what feels like harrassment in my own home?

Get a posterboard and marker.Write down that the 144,000 nonsense puts them in an odd place for a century old religion. And to read:Bloodlines of the illuminati by Fritz Springmeir which traces the origins of that cult.Plus, you are aware of so many false prophecies that you would never read on of their tracts.Leave it up on your door during the hours you usually get bothered by them.

If you've asked them to take you off their territory and they still come, then call the local Kingdom Hall and speak to an Elder. This should take care of it for you. Keep in mind that in 7 years they will make a visit in case you move. You can put a sign saying "No Jehovah's Witnesses".

One of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Put up a sign that says, "No Jehovah's Witnesses". Then call the cops when they arrive.

From their forum:

This week at the book study, at all congregations in the U.S., a letter was read saying if you go to a house or property with a "No Trespassing" sign, you must not enter, or knock on the door. You have to leave immediately.

A sign saying "No Solicitors" is too ambiguous, and they are to use their own judgment, and don't have to knock.

If it says "No Jehovah's Witnesses", you also must leave. Don't try to talk to them.

I thought this was pretty interesting. There must be some lawsuits out there.

Here's what I did, but it was with another church. Our church(and no, it's not Jehovah Witness) was having revival services, and when this other church came knocking at our door, I invited them to our revival services. I had the right attitude as well, so if you do invite them to your church, do so with a right attitude. Anyway, they never did knock at our door again. I knew of a guy who invited them in, and gave them a Bible Study. He never heard from them again, either. So there are two things you could do. I would advise against threatening anything, because you are just lowering yourself that way.

Try a sign that says "No Jehovah Witnesses or other Cults please" and considering you are elderly I wouldn't get up off the chair for anyone that you do not know, or who isn't carrying flowers, a package or mail, not worth the risk or bother. You are right to be offended by their rudeness. Besides which their message and literature is in very poor taste, uneducated and cult-like.

My Compliments.

I'm going to have to go with all the "No Jehovah's Witness Please" sign. I kinda wish someone would knock on my door, not that I'm interested in anything, but it would be fun to say no.

I ignore "No Soliciting" & "No Peddlers" signs because I am neither peddling nor soliciting.

I am there to deliver a message of hope for the future.

If you put up a "No Tresspassing" sign where it can be seen, then the majority of Christian ministers will respect that and leave you be.

Post a “No Trespassing” sign on your front door. Keep on hand a copy of the letter from the Watchtower Society to the local congregations, instructing them not to visit homes with No Trespassing signs on them. Show it to JWs who enter your property despite the sign being posted, call the police (if you wish), and follow it up with a written complaint to the congregation’s elders, referring to the letter. Be sure to send the letter by registered mail if you wish to have documentation of your correspondence.

You may write a general letter to request no visits. To do so, find the local congregation’s address in your phone book. Send it to them and send a copy to the Watchtower headquarters, 25 Columbia Heights, Brooklyn, New York 11201-2483, or fax it to: (718) 560-5619.

Do not accept literature. This will put you on their “return visit” list. Inviting them in or engaging them in conversation of any kind will also put you on their “return visit” list.

If you have social contact with a JW but wish to eliminate religious discussion, clearly state so. Allowing continued discussion of religious topics will likely be interpreted as interest and will fuel further discussion. If this discussion is occurring in your workplace, report it to your supervisor. If it continues, check with your state labor department to determine if the law in your state prevents continued discussion of religion over your objection. Some states prohibit it.

Put a sign up that says No Jahovahs Witnesses. And when they knock again tell them next time you are calling the police for harassment and trespass. (You may want to put that on the sign, too.)

You have to ask yourself what are they looking for, what do they hope to gain?

They are looking for converts, people who would contribute to their church.

Tell them a story about being a witness yourself at one time as a child, and your mother quit because of the enormous demands of time and money it put on her, use it to explain why you are not a Witness now.
Make sure you tell them you have all the books still so you don't need any more materials.
