I am an Atheist, and I have studied philosophy. But I think for the same reason most people haven't studied philosophy, because it is not encouraged in school and it doesn't have an application in daily life. Keep in mind that this is not a justification, merely an explanation.

Probably the same reason most so called Christians fail to really study and read their bible. Don't want to. Not sure why you would think it important for anyone to study philosophy, a fully manmade, nonscience based concept of random ideas and opinions. .

source?

edit: is this a setup? Are you trying to trick atheists into confessing they studied philosophy? Oh, and I did about a year of philosophy in my Bachelor's, so indeed, it seems that those that answer this question mostly did study it.

~~~ Carl ,,,, An Excellent Point !! ,,,, AND,,,Comparitive Mythology! I hope your "hint" gets through to those of us with "Good Intentions" that far exceed their Ignorance. As can be easily observed of The Frustration in their many Q's here on R&S, one can find a strong Arguement Against the silly notion that "Ignorance is Bliss". It might behoove you to note those of us atheists here who are actually Knowledgeable in these areas and pose your Qs directly. Here's a better question:
Why haven't more Christians studied the Bible?
Christians lack of knowledge where the Bible is concerned is embarrassing.
Because most people haven't studied philosophy. (I can Venn diagram it for you, but just by asking such a question I question your intelligence.)
Way to qualify your statement.
I don't know about "Atheists," but I've studied philosophy, and I'm an atheist. What do you want to talk about?
