Someone sent me, in an email about kindness etc... "We know of God's existence when we experience the random acts of kindness of others" Is that how God proves his existance, or is it POSSIBLE that people are kind without God's involvement? Is it possible to perform random acts of kindness without having Spirit at the root? Or are random acts of kindness proof of God's existance? Thoughts?

Um, random acts of kindness are definitely not anything to do with God. The atheists in here are some of the kindest people I've ever had the pleasure of speaking with.

I cant really agree that anyone has proof of gods existance. No one can. That is what is so great about it. It leaves room for debate, theory, and arguement. I believe everyone is born with good and evil. you have to choose which path you are going to take. I may have been born with an addictive personality and have alchoholism in my genes. But that doesnt mean that i have to take that road. You have a choice to do good for people or to harm people. Your choices shouldn't have anything to do with GOD. or a religion. You should just do good because. You dont need to have a reason. Or you dont have to say im doing this because he needs help. your just doing it to do it.

Hope that shed a little light.

I'm a strict Bible believing Christian, and I think expressions like that are a trivialization of God's nature. I believe that all human beings, except possibly totally depraved types, have at least a spark of kindness in them. Who knows, maybe we have a "kindness" gene.

I don't think we can prove or disprove God's existence. If we are wired to believe in God, we will believe and we will see the good things of the world as proof of God's existence.

I believe there is ability to perform random acts of kindness without spirtuality, it's a person finally having a heart and giving instead of taking for once.

very thought provoking.although i believ ind god in god i know some don't and i would like to add my thoughts to the list.random act of love and kindness are just that random.there is no spirit behind it just pure and simple human nature.if it was any other way then we would not be beings with the gift of free will.

Just look around you, the grass, stars, trees, rain, snow, sun, clouds, and everything you see. How could this be without the divine hand of God.? Think about it seriously. Yes ,you can be nice without God in your life. You can be loving, honest,a very good person,helpful,trust-worthy, and forgiving. BUT, that won't get you to heaven and you won't have the Holy Spirit. Only repentance and accepting God can do that.

I perform random acts of kindness all the time. Oh, no, does that make me a closet believer? The horrors!

Didn't satan try to use kindness when he took Jesus in a vision up on a high mountain & showed him all the kingdoms of the world & told Jesus that if he would bow down to satan that satan would give him all these kingdoms, What did Jesus do, He use the word of God. Why would Jesus want to bow down to satan, when at the end all these kingdoms anyway will be belong to Jesus.

Considering that these acts can come from people of any denomination, it seems odd that god would affirm their belief by having them do these acts.

I find it depressing that someone thinks God is necessary for kindness. Sort of short-sells mankind.
