how do i get rid of a fever blister/cold sore if ived been having it for more then a week?

ived had a fever blister or a cold sore eather ore i dont know mitch one i have bt i think more that its a fever blister... well back to my question ived been having it for more than a week and it hasnt gone away yet!! what ived tried it green alcohol and vix and i guess it didnt work.. can somebody please tell me ow too get rid of it A.S.A.P.!!!

well....a friend of mine had them really bad on her lip..she has 2 small boys and couldnt kiss them...the dr told her to sterilize a sewing needle...get some fingnail polish remover, the kind WITH acetone in it...and if they are still blisters...pop them with the needle and put the remover on a cotton ball and dab it on there...burns like the dickens...but cleared hers up in about 2 days compeltely

cold sore, fever blister, canker sore, all the same thing, and caused by herpes simplex virus. It takes up to three weeks for those to heal. You can be more comfortable and shorten the duration by a bit of time by using Abreva, a product availble over the counter. Do not use alcohol, drying the area only prolongs the healing process. If you get them frequently, talk to your doctor about a prescription treatment, there are several used for this in extreme cases. Also, if you are sexually active, DO NOT indulge in oral sex, EVER. You are actively shedding the virus for a week before it shows up and for three weeks after it has completely healed, so basically, you never now when you will have an outbreak or be contagious. Oral sex will transmit the oral virus to the genitals where it will change to genital herpes, something any lover will NOT thank you for.

well not much you can do if it's that far along,the key is to get it when the symptoms first appear,I use tea tree oil to get rid of them.
