For some reason Sci Fi has decided to put wrestling on their channel. What does wrestling have to do with science fiction? Someone PLEASE tell me because maybe I am missing something.

if it doesn't have anything to do with it then it shouldn't be on that channel...it would be like putting most haunted on the culinary channel...utterly pointless

I'm with you. I remember when the Sci-Fi Channel debuted, and it really was sci-fi. But over the years, as it got acquired by the big companies (I believe Universal now owns them, along with USA and NBC) the quality and sci-fi content started to slip. They started showing wrestling and really bad movies made for the SF Channel, like Mansquito. I'm waiting for some kind of crossover thing, like Mansquito wrestles some other character from another really awful made-for-the-Sci-Fi-Channel movie.
It kinda reminds me of MTV - it'd be nice to have a channel that actually played nothing but music videos. And it'd be nice to have a real sci-fi channel.

USA Networks (NBC Universal) and its current contract with Vince McMahon is that's why "ECW" is clogging Sci-Fi Channel's schedule. It was within an inch of being dropped from the schedule after December but was picked up for another year (the highest-rated show on Sci-Fi in its time slot...barely).

Maybe just the will to introduce something that won't eventually turn their viewers into couch potatoes but couldn't find The Matrix as a tv series! ;P
Apart from that, I know a few titles where wrestlers has been used for roles in SciFi and Fantassy/horror movies.

Because wrestling and other sports are aided by science...
example new basketball shoes are made through principle of physics.... wrestling?? Body building!!! and fooling the eye with illusions!!! as if they are really hurt!!! but thats why it is fiction!!!
