There are things you can do to help. But your first mission will be finding doctors that actually believe in this disease. It is recognized by I believe the fda, or something like that, but many dr's are still skeptical.

That being said, I would find a good pain dr ASAP. You can go to sites such as braintalk.org and brainchat.org that is a message board, and chat room for people dealing with all sorts of syndromes, diseases, and pain problems. You can also look locally for support groups. The best way to fight any disease, especially pain, is to have a good attitude. And finding a support group can help tremedously. If you cannot find something locally, and do not feel like starting one yourself, try an online group. The sites I listed previously have great ones. My mom has frequented them for YEARS! If you e-mail me or whatever, I can give you her s/n for those sites.

Anyway..... your pain doc, and reg. doc. should be able to work together to create a treatment plan. What exactly that is will depend on what exactly is wrong with you. But your options are pretty open. From non narcotic pain meds, to stretching and physical therapy. All the way up to more drastic treatments such as injections, possible surgeries, and narcotic medication.

Just keep positive. If it is fibro, there is hope. If it is not, but you are still in pain for no real reason, I would still suggest a pain doc. They understand pain, and how the body responds to it. They are often the only ones to understand, and sometimes even believe you.

My mother takes steriods to help. The problem with them is she is always hungry and gaining weight. That's about the only thing that helps though.

Usually the symptoms come and go so you shouldn't be in pain all the time. Wish I could help more but I think that's the only solution.
