Erm ok, do you actually live in Moss Side? Why attack people simply because they dont live in a violent area?

There certainly are places which are very violent. But there have ALWAYS been places which have been very violent. If you'd have walked alone in Hackney in the 19th century and escaped being mugged or worse you'd have been lucky. Same goes for many areas of many cities in Britain. Murder rates were nearly 10 times higher in Mediaeval times, and only fell after 1660.

Britain is getting more violent (as are many other countries) - but it is by no means the most violent country in the world, or even the west. The UK is only the 46th most dangerous country in terms of murder rate, with 0.014 murders/1000 people. South Africa for instance has 0.496/1000 - 50 times higher, the US has 0.042/1000 - 4 times as high. The reason people THINK Britain is so incredibly violent is because there has been an increase, though it has been reasonably small - and the press have blown it out of all proportion, running a story every day on it sometimes. They don't run stories saying "there hasn't been a shooting in x for 15 years".

40 years ago Moss Side was an area inhabited by a lot of first generation Caribbean immigrants.I went to one of their social clubs, after a night out in Manchester, and was treated with the upmost respect. I was wined and dined and offered accommodation for the night. Beautiful hospitable people.
Todays problems are exacerbated by the influx of drugs and turf wars which the elder generation abhor as much as the rest of society.

Even in so called nice areas it is now no longer wise to make eye contact with some idiots who regard it as a challenge to their macho image, and are likely to abuse or attack you, you will then be arrested for trying to defend yourself against these halfwits.

I live in a village in Devon and we have had murders and rapes here, so it's everywhere. Having lived in Liverpool I actually felt safer there.

our kids shoot up in the parks... they shoot each other on teh streets...

and britain isnt violent... these incidents are taken out of context, and blown out of all proportion. so you will become a gullibe paranoid and spend money on unnessescary security products...
