Old stories and arbitrary rules. Most of the Old Testament can be traced back to myths of the time. And there are also rules made up by the people of the time and legends about their conquests and such.

It wasn't. The stuff written about Jesus was written decades after he died. He didn't fulfill anything, but the writers wrote it to match the prophecies.

Included in the divine promises to Abraham were the assurances that 1 Christ would come through his lineage, and that 2 Abraham’s posterity would receive certain lands as an eternal inheritance (Gen. 17; Gen. 22: 15-18; Gal. 3.) These promises taken together are called the Abrahamic covenant. It was renewed with Isaac (Gen. 26: 1-4, 24) and again with Jacob (Gen. 28; Gen. 35: 9-13; Gen. 48: 3-4).
The portions of the covenant that pertain to personal salvation and eternal increase are renewed with each individual who receives the ordinance of celestial marriage. Those of non-Israelite lineage, commonly known as gentiles, are adopted into the house of Israel, and become heirs of the covenant and the seed of Abraham, through the ordinances of the gospel (Gal. 3: 26-29).
Being an heir to the Abrahamic covenant does not make one a “chosen person” per se, but does signify that such are chosen to responsibly carry the gospel to all the peoples of the earth. Abraham’s seed have carried out the missionary activity in all the nations since Abraham’s day. (Matt. 3: 9).

The old testament covenant was with the children of Abraham. Those who love God will always receive his blessings. People think this applies to the Jews only but keep in mind that this is an eternal covenant. Thus, all those who love the God of Abraham and follow the old testament law are entitled to God's blessing.

The Old Testament covenant was a agreement cut between God and the Jewish race. The main sign of the convenant was circumcision. The laws that the people had to keep where given to Moses - including the 10 Commandments, and over 600 more than dealt with health, diet, criminal and civil cases, morality, and various rituals, sacrifices and holy days. The promises that God had to keep included blessing them with a nation, food, health, money, and security.

The rituals, sacrifices and holy days were given as signs to help the Jewish people to be able to recognize the Messiah (Jesus) when he arrived. In his gospel, Matthew list 90 different prophecies that Jesus fulfilled, and those are jsut a hadful of the total signs given. Throug his death and resurrection, Jesus fulfilled all of those signs, ending the need for his followers to continue to observe them.

He also moved the law of God from outside of man where it was written in stone, to inside man where it is written on the heart. As Christians, we following the leading of God's spirit within. But still use the 10 Commandments and other moral laws as guidelines to know when it is the voice of God.

And finally, the promises of God have moved from an earthly kingdom to a heavenly one, that rules in the hearts of man, not in a physical location.

The Old Testament covenant was exclusively between God and the Jews. It had to do with atonement for sins through animal sacrifice and other rituals. If the Jews performed these rituals and obeyed, they would remain in God's good graces. But it wasn't enough. Animal sacrifice was a temporary fix to a more permanent problem of sin. The new covenant took place when God offered himself up as the ultimate sacrifice, through Jesus, to take the punishment of our sins past, present, and future on himself, so that we can be free of the rituals and animal sacrifices once and for all. Also through Christ everyone can be free, not just the Jews.

The Old Testament starts with the Book of Genesis, which means " Beginnings". It's main theme is for those who are aware of it: Trust God. And also, humans are sinners, and God picks some of them to trust Him.

The Books tend to say that God chose a person ( Abraham ), who became the father of the people who He chose to carry His message, and He made a 'covenant' with them.

God made a covenant with the HEBREWS. The Jews weren't called Jews until later, and they consisted of only the Hebrew tribes of the southern kingdom of Judah. That's important for noting, it helps to know for later. Too many people get that wrong.

The thing about the covenant is: The people who were a part of it couldn't keep it. It was impossible for them to keep. So all along God gave prophecies of a 'redeemer' and He would be called, " The Lord is our Redeemer."

Next Jesus fulfilled the Law of Moses. He did this by remaining perfect to it, and even revealed Himself as being God. ( Remember? The Lord is Our Redeemer?)

But because of sin, there must be a sacrifice of blood, and Jesus became the Kinsman Redeemer ( typified in the Old Testament Book of Ruth ) , and made the 'propitiation' for sins.

Since God who is in heaven counted the sacrifice of Jesus 'acceptable' for the sins of the world, Jesus became the Redeemer. ( God is our Redeemer).

The Old Testament is then the foretelling of Jesus, who was prophesied to do what He did. If you look at it closely enough, Jesus is God who told the people what He would do. He was the one who told the prophets of the Old Testament what he would do later. And then He did it as Jesus of Nazareth.

The Old Testament covenant is between God and the Jews.

Jesus brought the covenant of the New Testament, which is the means for salvation of the eternal soul. This covenant is between God and all people.

You're asking for an essay, my dear.

The OT Covenant, in a nutshell, is the promise God made with Abraham that one of his descendents would bring blessing to the entire world.

Jesus was the fulfillment of that promise.

In the meantime, the Law was introduced as a type of "nanny" to keep the people of Israel in line, so to speak.

The Law was NOT the Covenant, but rather the Promise was the Covenant, and (as it is written), the Law could not negate the Promise which had come 430 years earlier.
