what would happen?

Would it cleanse the place of sin and evil?

Has anyone ever done this by pouring water in a heavily sinful place like a bar, house of ill repute, or a home, and what happened?

The holy water is blessed by a priest already.

People at bars people gamble, drink, get drunk, lust commit bad acts and so forth. Not all of them, but there the forces of darkness sit waiting and prowling as a drunk is in his weakest moments.

Need more information before I can reply...

1. Why "Catholics only"? I am yet to see a halo atop any person (Catholic, Catholic priest, barman, drunk or otherwise). Was Jesus a catholic?

2. The priest who blessed the water ... was he selected by Jesus himself as a priest? Or was he voted a priest by other priests who were themselves voted as priests?

3. What makes a "bar" a place of ill repute? Isn't it the people who get drunk that are evil? What if an evil person drinks inside a catholic church ... is the drinking justified because it is done inside a catholic church?

4. What if the priest who supposedly blessed the holy water is actually the devil in disguise - would the holy water then still cleanse because you and I are unable to understand that this is the devil and not a priest?

No offense to anyone except to foolish faith that compels us to misinterpret every word of religious books and act as fanatics (verbal or otherwise).

I would think it would have more to do with the actual prayers and earnestness of the person pouring the water.

I have seen blessings of properties where a person is a non catholic but walks the perimeter and prays. Some people do this to office buildings or large stores where they or loved ones work.

I can't see why praying and blessing a bar would hurt. But I don't believe the water is actually holy itself. What makes the water special is that it was prayed over and blessed.

For me it's more symbolic than anything else. I wouldn't misuse it just for the reason that it is blessed and meant for baptisms and cleansing. Those are pretty powerful things and personally I don't want to risk misusing it.

Sin and evil abound everywhere. Holy water is not going to ever stop that, but the prayers that go with it can't hurt.

"a heavily sinful place like a bar" you must be Catholic. you have made it your place to condem places you have never been. to place judgement on people you do not know. what do you think will happen if you put holy water on the floor.....NOTHING! "a home" .... what is that suppose to mean? I think maybe you should try it at your house first, then go to your local parish and try to clean out those closets first (if you can get past all the Catholic priests in there)

hi, if you put holy water in a place that u go to & u don't want to go to it again i'm not sure that that's what it will do. i think when u put holy water on something then it makes that something very blessed. it doesn't make it a bad place for u to go. u need to stay away from the bars. not put holy water on them. holy water wasn't made to be put in bars. u need determination & alot of prayers. good luck, nobrethequeen

Holy water will not cleanse sin. Holy water is a reminder of our baptismal promises and as such drives the evil spirits crazy because it also reminds them of what happens in baptism---they are left on the cross while we go free.
