I quit drinking due to many reasons, but all my friends still drink. Don't get me wrong, they're good people, but when we go to the bar or pretty much anywhere, I am really bored now.

What can I do to enjoy my time more? Or what types of activities can I do to keep busy?

Yea, its funny how people go along with activities. Your time drinking was time missing from developing your self. Start now by getting into your passions. What are they, a sport, a class snorkeling, fishing, dancing painting, photography, skiing, tennis club, then theres volunteering political, community etc church. Follow your passions, you've got some personal education to start!

Go fishing! Go Hunting, camping, anything outdoors. People often have a beer doing that too. I said a beer or two occasionally not habitual !!! If you get stronger in your discipline you could actually go to the bar, drink a coke and have a good time. Or just 2 beer then call it quits. Why do people carry it to extremes? That is not what alcohol is for.
Find a hobby or another better habit. That's all drinking is in the beginning a pastime for boredom, then it always turns BAD!!!!

I don't really have an answer for ya, but I'll star it because I have the exact same problem. I'm cutting back a lot to take an anti depressant (if I drank to much I would black out) and find the same problem.
One thing I have decided is not to stay away from bars or nightclubs, because they are a big part of my social life. It would suck to sit home and isolate. I also do have 1 or 2, but no longer get drunk.
This is a great question, and I'll check back on it!

I can't drink anymore because I'm pregnant and It made me lose a few friends. Sometimes people just hang out to get drunk, and those really shouldn't be counted as friends. Good for you and quitting drinking. I find it is really entertaining to watch your friends while they are drunk. You get to see how stupid you really look. If you aren't going to have fun at the bars with them, then do something else! Suggest going to a nice place to eat.

You really ought to find some non drinking activities to do with your friends, or find new friends who dont drink. Booze pervades so much of our social life that when we stop, it leaves a huge void...

if you keep going to bars, you'll eventually pick up a drink again, so i advise you to avoid places where the primary activity is getting lit up.

when i quit drinking, i started playing raquetball competitively-quite frankly i was obsessed! And i started geting very serious about music again, and that led me to college classes,...
theres a multitude of things to do that are positive.

and if not drinking is difficult, you can always go to AA meetings, sometimes they are very entertaining.

Oh God that sucks! I had to quit drinking for a few weeks for antidepressants and like you, all we do is go to bars and party; man it was so boring, however I did not miss the hangovers. My advice is just try to do things that make yourself happy, TV shows, sports, whatever, it is going to be super tough on the weekends, trust me I know. Just focus on how good it feels not to be hung over and dragging *** all weekend and maybe the answers to things to do will come to you that way. Good luck!

I think going to an AA meeting and seeing how others live their lives once they have quit drinking will help you alot. Sometimes when we quit drinking the same people no longer interest us and we need to find new friends who have the same common goals as we do. GOOD LUCK

I know a couple recovered alcoholics. I highly recommend an organization like AA. The difficulty you describe is exactly what they're there for. AA costs no money, by the way.
