Former Catholic here. The RCC believes that tradition and the teaching magistrate of the church is on equal footing with the Bible. That is how they get such things as the papacy, purgatory, indulgences, the mass, etc.. The term "catholic" means universal. The invisible Church is "catholic" in that sense, it is universal, people from all tribes, tongues and nations make up the Church, all those born anew, indwelt with the Spirit, forgiven, redeemed and justified by Christ's death and resurrection. In the third century, Calixtus 1, a bishop of Rome, made a power grab and declared himself head of the church, citing Matthew 16:18 as proof that Peter was appointed the first bishop of Rome and head of the Church, even though this contradicted the leading theologians of the day. That grab for power died an ignominious death when Tertullian, bishop of Carthage, and others, called Calixtus 1 a “usurper.”

I believe it was Paul who wrote "Some men are eunuch by no choice, some for satan, and some for God". This supports that if you were to be religious as a priest you don't need a wife, as you've given your rights to a normal life away and given the life of Priesthood.

The Lutherans believe in church being a private event, and that speaking in tongues and lifestyle are far less important than personal studies. Christ sent the disciples to make different churches around the world, and they did. One of them is the Catholic Church (which came from an Orthodox church started by Paul).

Lutherans often don't practice their religion any more than Catholics, they're simply more open about not practicing their religion (knowingly or unknowingly). Lutherans were also started by Luther who was a huge anti-Semite. Catholics I don't believe ever had this anti-Semitism.

If you really want to do the right thing for your child

Don't get involved with either. Instead, read a good modern version of the Bible and ask God for guidance. Start with the Gospel of John and read the whole thing. Then try Mark, Luke and Mathew. It's not important which order only that you read from start to finish, not necessarily at one setting.

If you have never been born again you should do it. This means realizing your need for God and Jesus, and asking God to forgive you on the basis of what Jesus did for you.

If you want a good church to visit, look around your neighborhood and try a Baptist, an Assembly of God, Church of the Nazarene, or even a non denominational. In fact, I suggest you don't stop at one but visit a few before you decide.

The most important thing is your relationship with God, not which building you go to.

I will pray for you

You should probably go with what you understand and can relate to.So many doctrines. The catholic church does alot of things that don't not only make sence but have a habbit of excusing their 'boo boo's'.They do alot of things I don't care for.Not to mention the history is shady. As long as your learning about God the Father/Jesus the son/The Holy Spirit I think you've made a good choice.

You have some very good questions. It is good to see you want to make the truth your own.
If you would go to watchtower.org and follow the directions. Someone in your area would be very happy to answer your questions from YOUR,,, own personal bible.
So many people say Jehovah's Witneses have there own bible. We are more than happy to use any bible to share God's word. We , however choose to use the New World Translation Bible, again we are more than happy to use your personal bible to answer any question you might have..
You will more than likely get some negative responses here. However, find out for yourself and don't rely on someone elses opinions. Many Catholics have contacted the Witnesses and found out for themselves what your are looking for and are very happy they did contact the Witnesses.
Again watchtower.org and follow the directions and someone in your area will contact you. You can ask them all the questions you have. They will answer your question from God's word.

Jesus saves the people who believe Him, Catholic or Lutheran.

This is what He said to do:

17 "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son."
( John 3 )

And that's what he said!

'Religion' has the capacity to complicate things. Jesus made it simple. So I would tell you that the important thing is to look at what Jesus said and believe it.

Trust God, this is what He said He would do if you do:

3 Trust in the LORD and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.

4 Delight yourself in the LORD
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

5 Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him and he will do this:

6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
( Psalm 37 )

He promised it, will you trust Him for it? That's what a person who belongs to God IS. It's who we are. So be a Catholic, or a Lutheran if you must, but in all things, trust God!

Don't get reinvolved with the catholic cult. Please for your child's sake, don't do it.

Just simply believe that Jesus, who is God, died for your sins on the cross and rose again.

God gave us the Bible through the Jewish people.

Catholics are not saved and are not Christians. Catholics believe a false gospel of works that leads to eternal hell.

Bible teachers that said that the Vatican and the catholic cult are an antichrist: John Bunyan, John Huss, John Wycliffe, John Calvin, William Tyndale, John Knox, Thomas Bacon, John Wesley, Charles Spurgeon, Samuel Cooper, John Cotton, and Jonathan Edwards

Hi kisses :)

All religions devide people into separate groups.... John Lennon in his song *Imagine* describes a peaceful world without any religion....

Humanity must unite on common ground to build a solid foundation for peace on our planet.

Realizing and understanding that we are all sons and daughters of God will enable us to live in eternal harmony with one another.

Seek guidance within...

Religions tell people to seek for God outside of themselves.... Your soul is your direct connection to God, learn to ask and hear the answers of your own heart. The Kingdom of Heaven is inside of you.

You're doing a good job evaluating your faith and giving this issue deep thought. Keep studying. Maybe seek out the guidance of a Lutheran pastor.
