Let me start off by telling you im not telling you to take the drug but that many of the things you hear about ecstasy are untrue. Many of the deaths reported are not caused by the drug itself but by the lack of hydration when dancing or other physical activities . MDMA also known as ecstasy in a clean form is truely a safe drug if you research and know what your doing. I quote this "The chief executive of the UK Medical Research Council stated MDMA was "on the bottom of the scale of harm," and the Science & Technology Committee rated it of lower concern than for alcohol, tobacco, and cannabis, when examining the harmfulness of any given drug. The UK study placed great weight on the risk for acute physical harm, the propensity for physical and psychological dependency on the drug, and the negative familial and societal impacts of the drug. On these factors, the study places MDMA relatively low,". Tell me what you think. Over long term use it can be dangerous but in moderation its safe

Fact is MDMA is a safer drug than nicotine. Also MDMA is shown to not cause violence. Its a happy drug people under the influence of this feel in love with everything and aren't going to harm anyone. Alcohol is shown to cause more anger and temper problems.

I think that if you get "clean" MDMA then the facts you stated are correct. There are a few points to think about though:

-E is often cut with other substances like speed, MDEA, etc. which are far more dangerous and addictive than MDMA. "Pure" MDMA is hard to come by these days.
-There isn't a lot of longitudinal data on the effects of MDMA. I'd be worried about seratonin issues in the future.
-"In Moderation" is subjective. Just anticdotally, I've had friends who loved E in college. They would roll about once a month-once every 6 weeks, and everyone noticed they seemed "changed" after a while. The rest of us would roll 1-2x per year and eventually got bored of it, but the kids who did it a few times per semester got kind of vacant after a year or two.

citing a study done in another country is all well and good, but frankly it's bogus...they haven't the population to provide statistically valid hypotheses like that. I have worked in too many Emergency rooms where kids have died after using this illegal drug. And there is no "long term, short term use" where ecstacy is concerned, one time use has killed people. So cite all the so called studies you want, IT IS NOT A SAFE DRUG TO USE AT ANY TIME, because there is no way to know how it will affect any given person. I think posting stuff like this is a huge disservice to people.

It's the same thing with heroin. Everybody thinks it's the worst right next to cocaine and all that jazz, but in reality it's not. It's bad to overdose, and addiction is easy, but otherwise it can be very recreational; if it were life-threatening it more than likely wouldn't be a legal prescription drug in the U.K. And no, I'm not an addict, because this is something obviously an addict would say, but I am clean, just making a point that yes, YOU DO have a point.

A drug is just that - a drug. I admit - I'm addicted to caffeine, which is a drug. I'm also addicted to nicotine, a drug. Am I going to stop smoking and drinking Pepsi? Prolly not anytime soon. Long term effects not withstanding, it's something I enjoy and it's still legal (well, you can't smoke in some areas, but they haven't said it's outright illegal!)

On the "scale of harm", I'm sure these two drugs are on the low side. Does that make it okay - no. But I bet you that Ecstasy is a lot higher on the scale than nicotine and caffeine! Doesn't make it right, but it doesn't make it right to kill others when you do something stupid while you're taking the drug!

Just my $0.02 worth.
