I've had lower back pain in my right side so I went to the doctor. I also had the constant need to urinate but no pain when I actually urinate. I've never had a UTI before but that is what they treated me for. It has been 2 days since I have been off the antibiotics and I am still having the same pain. It isn't very painful, just annoying. I have a follow up appointment but I'm impatient and want to know what could be wrong. Thanks.

I've had lower back pain in my right side so I went to the doctor. I also had the constant need to urinate but no pain when I actually urinate. They tested my urine and said I had traces of dead white blood cells and blood so they put me on Sulfamethoxazole to treat UTIs. It has been 2 days since I have been off the antibiotics and I am still having the same pain. It isn't very painful, just annoying. I have a follow up appointment but I'm impatient and want to know what could be wrong. Thanks.

The pain is over the right hip area traveling back towards the spine.

Did they check your urine for the UTI? You may need to remain on antibiotics longer and/or switch to a different antibiotic. The organism causing the UTI might be resistant to whatever med you were already given.

Other than the UTI, it could be a female problem, or simply a muscle strain. Good luck.

It sounds like a UTI and needless to say the first course of antibiotics do not seemed to have cleared it. However the pain might be something different. You state the right side as in where exactly? Is it 'put your hands on your hips' or over that right hip area traveling back towards the spine?

I have had the same thing happen to me. Lower back pain, frequency to urinate and white blood cells in my urine. I have been on antibotics for the past week and still have a couple of days to go.. Nothing is improving though. Been sent to have an ultrasound in case it might be kidney stones etc..
Hope this helps.
